Love the way you have painted this.It is so fresh.

This is stunning Fiona and beautifully painted. You at your best, your work is always excellent , but for me this stands out it would look so beautiful in a frame

Sounds and looks like a wonderful place Fiona. Love the way you have painted the background trees, melting into the sky.

Love this Fiona- very much my sort of painting. I'm going to have look at your 2011 posting now.

Super work, love the way you've painted the far trees.

Super watercolour Fiona. Great sense of weather and beauty

Eventually found your earlier painting. like this one much more because of the Autumnal colour palette in the distance. I noticed that all the paintings in your 2011 gallery show the date as 31 March 2015 ?? Curioser and curioser!!

I could look at it all day, beautiful Fiona.

Superb painting Fiona, I particularly like the foreground marks and the dead (or deciduous?) trees, and, well, I like it all!

Wow............ this is truly excellent Fiona.

Great depth due to foreground strength. Very nice.

Attractive little watercolour Fiona, I do like those two trees to the left, definitely needed them!

Many thanks for your very kind comments, they are, as always much appreciated. Carol, glad you managed to find it. Yes, they all have the same date whichever folder you look at, if you check the comment boxes, it gives you the date. I prefer this version, the other one is a bit dark.

Beautiful work, Fiona....lovely contrast and composition.

Really beautiful, Fiona - the trees, shadows, colours - excellent!

I really like this gorgeous painting Fiona. It's so fresh, the snow looks like snow and you have got some great depth in this painting.

Lovely watercolour, Fiona. All hangs together beautifully

Really love the L shape composition, Fiona!

Lovely colours and composition.

Really beautiful I love how you portrayed the dimensions to give a lovely 3D effect Fiona. Exceptionally lovely!

This is really very lovely, Fiona! (That patch of Burnt Sienna could be someone sitting quietly in contemplation facing the trees!)

Beautiful scene and misty sky, the distant trees and lodge look mystified and this scene evokes wonder!

Just love it Fiona, I think it's one of your best!!

Wonderful winter scene, Fiona!

I’m so grateful to you all for your wonderful positive comments on this, thank you x

Jenny, you must have the same sense of seeing as my husband! He said that as soon as he looked at this....lol. “There’s a chap sat under the tree”......

Glad it wasn’t just me! I’m always seeing things in paintings, usually people or faces - not sure what that says about me!

Jenny, you wouldn’t believe this.....I’ve just painted a much smaller version of this for a Christmas card for a friend and without even remembering the chap under the tree, he’s there again! Only this time he is reclining with his arms behind his head...lol Many thanks Diane.

Lovely winter scene Fiona.

Sandra, Dennis ....thank you both very much.

A really nice watercolour Fiona , the distant trees and sky treatment I like a lot plus the overall composition and colours you used in this piece . Well done .

Nice loose approach Fiona, well done.

Thank you very much Graham and Stephen for your much appreciated comments.

Really great - like the way you have used subtle colour.

Maureen thank you very much.

This is beautiful Fiona.

Great. I am sure you must have mentioned the reason for your numbering, but I must have missed it ....

Thank you Sarah for you lovely comment. Hi Gudrun, I noticed when looking through my past galleries that in February next year I have been on POL for ten years. I also noticed how many items I had posted over that ten years and it was in the upper 900’s. So I thought I would try and get up to posting a thousand paintings by February 2021! The numbers are my count down.....lol. Thanks

Really like the gentle colours Fiona.

I love the colours you've used here, very delicate. A restful painting that i could look at over and over. It would look lovely framed and on the wall.

Elaine, Ann.....thank you both very much for your lovely positive comments.

I’m sure I commented on this before but I’m happy to add another one because it’s a beautiful painting. It looks so fresh ,cold and bright. Lovely undulating washes give the snow it’s realistic look.

Diana, you are very kind , thank you for your lovely positive comment.

16”x14” watercolour on Saunders paper. I posted the original of this in February 2011, it’s from a photo taken in the grounds of the above lodge. The lodge is a wonderful example of the Tudor revival/arts and crafts style, built in 1910 by Robert Macbeth for Andrew Carnegie. It stands in about 22 acres of natural landscape.
