Diana Boanas

Biography

I have recently returned to painting after a 40 year gap. I did O level then half an A level in art ,followed by a bit of oil painting ,printing and ceramics as part of a primary teaching course but haven't touched it since. Five years ago I was bought a sketch book and pencils while on holiday and as I began drawing again was overcome with emotion and regret at having abandoned something so urgent in me.. I am now continuing to develop my drawing and watercolour painting which is completely new to me but so exciting. I am virtually self taught and have devoured books, articles and videos alongside endless practice and some online tuition Recently retired from teaching, I have time available to explore and expand my techniques. Slowly building confidence, I have submitted work to exhibitions and competitions with success and winning several prizes and being selected for the RI watercolour exhibition at the Mall Galleries in 2018/19. I had two paintings in the Sunday Times Watercolour competition this year and work in the Society of Women Artists snd society of Marine Artists at The Mall Galleries in London. My favourite medium is watercolour but I enjoy mark making with anything … almost!
