Good choice Fiona and beautifully executed! Sometimes when you are stuck it's good to try something entirely different and you have proved that it works. Well done!

I go to two art groups, at one the subject is suggested and at the other you choose your own, I don't know which is the most difficult! Love this Fiona and it looks like you enjoyed painting it!

lovely fresh picture I like it . You can feel the power of the sea in this one fiona

I agree. This is fab-u-lous. Are you going to be more confident now?

Beautiful colour and great atmosphere!

Stunning, lively painting, Fiona.

Oh thank you everyone....your comments give me a terrific boost! Gudrun, confidence?....ha ha!! Thanks again.

This is a big change of subject for you but you have handled it very well, congrats Fiona.

Thanks Stephen, not really a change of direction just didn't have a clue what to paint! Took the easy way out and it looked simple-ish. All wet in wet then added the boat.

Wow! A real departure for you, but goodness hasn't it worked well! Love it.

Thanks Thea, not an intentional subject. I had finished what I was working on and had about 30minutes before I left the group, so wanted something quick and easy........and it was. The recent postings of flowers have come about in roughly the same way. Thanks again.

Love the loose style and the feeling of a highly charged sea! Exciting!

Many thanks Sarah, much appreciated.

Fiona, just one technical niggle. Like all things man made, the accuracy has to be correct and the yacht's mast should be at right angles to the keel or hull. A super atmosphere is achieved and your choice of subject when in the delaimma was right on for something different. Well done.

I know Derek, it is very noticable isn't it...lol. Would you believe I am so picky about things being right in all other aspects of my life....I'm mega tidy, everything has a place......yet in painting I seem to do the exact opposite. There must be an explanation but I'm not aware of it. Thank you for your comment

A stunning piece, Fiona! You've excelled in capturing the turbulence of the sea, the fabulous atmosphere and the tossing movement of the yachts. Superb work!

Thank you very much Seok.

Friday art group and I was stuck for a subject to paint, found this picture on a magazine cover. I think the original was in acrylics/oils, thickly applied. I liked the seamless blend from sky to sea. Arches paper, Old Holland watercolours and a few wee lines of ink!
