Another little beauty here Alan. Lovely as always 😍

Absolutely beautiful Alan - it's a place I know well. I love the way you have done the trees!

Beautiful work Alan,I love the strong shadows and how you've captured that cool winter sunlight. There aren't any windmills in my neck of the woods but I have a pang of nostalgia when I look at the 'Cley Mill' series of paintings.

Beautiful Alan, I see the Hilder influence.

Well detailed and coloured painting 🎨

Super painting Alan, love it.

Lovely painting. Really like your paint marks and colours.

Thanks guys, always appreciated. Should have added that I’ve used a 2B carbon pencil for a few of the branches - as Rowland Hilder did!

Nice immediacy about this one Alan -love it.

Excellent work Alan. Years ago I worked for a company making Fine Art Prints of Hilders Originals, The beauty of the originals always amazed me.

A great sketch as always. I think the dark blacks hold the balance just right, and add dynamism. Interesting that RH used a 2B carbon pencil for trees.

Lovely painting Alan

Such a nostalgic, panoramic, view Alan. Love the contrasting cool and warm colours. A place you want to visit.

Lovely clean work, Alan.

Lovely painting. The “ darks” really give depth.

Beautifully done Alan. I have never seen the windmill in the flesh. Is this how it still looks?

Thanks again guys… yes Martin, it’s a grade 11 listed building. It’s no longer a working mill which is such a pity, it’s residential!

Super painting, those white gable ends really stand out well.

Very pleasing painting, Alan- love the glow in the sky.

Reminds me of Roland Hilder’s work- striking work as usual Alan!!

Good contrasts and trees - lovely painting.

Superb painting

Beautifully portrayed. When I was there, I was truly amazed at seeing a wild purple heron! Never seen one before or since.

Beautiful work alan

I’m loving your study paintings of Cley mill Alan. The mount board gives a a terrific effect of roof tiles and brickwork texture on the buildings.

Not bad at all Alan😉

Your work is so accomplished Alan. I love the clean lines and precision.

Absolutely superb as always!!!

Very well done, and so clearly influenced by Hilder.

Definitely Roland Hilder similarities . You are incredibly versatile

I knew this was you Alan! Beautiful, as always.

Beautifully drawn and the brush marks energise the surface Alan.

Wonderful Alan and a super palette

Spot on, Alan.

Hello Alan, I hope you're keeping happy and well and thank you so much for your kind comments on my latest That's a beauty of a scene Alan superbly executed ,cannot help thinking of the wonderful Rowland Hilder

Another view of this fabulous windmill, but from a distance this time. I’ve written a feature for TA magazine with tips and advice, looking at what we can learn from Rowland Hilder. He painted this scene many times - it’s coming up in the June issue. Watercolour and gouache on mountboard 8.5x11in
