Wonderful freedom that grabs the character of history in the landscape. Great colour too.

Such a lot of character in these old halls Alan. Very expressive piece.

Love your mark making, its got real energy!

Amazing painting Alan, gorgeous combination of colours. I like much your en-plein-air works.

Those swirly brush marks say so much Alan, lovely again.

Creamy, buttery...very expressive Alan, super painting!

Super painting indeed Alan! I love the thickness of the paint and keep wondering how is it that it doesn't get muddy.

Lovely. Beautiful colours and I love the application of paint.

This current series is simply outstanding - such skill.

I've run out of superlatives, Alan! Another really excellent piece. Love the palette, the atmosphere, the contrast of restful spaces and vibrant lines.

Hi Alan, I hope I haven't got it wrong, Alan!!!! I was sure it was YOUR painting, with a Red Label alongside your name, in the "Leisure Painter" section. Your surprise has made me doubt myself now! I really hope I have got it right!!!!!! [ I saw another name I recognised with a Red Label beside her name, too, but I shall keep quiet incase I am wrong!] It was an oil painting with lots of Yellow on it. The lovely yellow colour is what caught my eye, and the style, I thought, was yours.

Oh BRILLIANT< ALAN !!!!!!!!!! Thank God I was right!!!!! Congratulations to you for a beautiful winner !! Is THIS the painting, Alan??? This is the one from your Gallery which I thought was the one I saw at Patchings. I loved that yellow in the foreground, adjacent to the pale lemon yellow. It is still in my mind's eye. Congratulations, once more! Cheers , enjoy your party celebrations!!!! xxx

This lovely old hall is just a few hundred yards up my lane. Painted early yesterday morning, oil on Loxley board with Michael Harding paints. 305 x 305mm.
