I really like the colours, the simplicity, and especially the little red boat.

Yes, the little red boat looks good Alan, lovely work.

Thanks Sandra and Margaret, I painted the sails white at first but then decided it needed a splash of colour to liven it up! Not proving to be too popular by the lack of response, I'll have to start painting in a photographic style...

No Alan, no photographic style please.....I wish I could paint this loose and still make it look full of information. I'm looking forward to reading your article and putting it in to practice. The red sail is perfect...love it!

Lovely work as ever - clever, leaving a lot up to the spectator and yet supplying important visual information. I need to try and follow suite !!!

Who wants photographic when you can be treated to this? Great.

A stunning painting Alan especially in 30 mins.

Almost missed this wonderful painting, Alan, I had some pc problems. I like the composition, the c olours and the shining water. The red sail works very well.

Thank you Fiona, Helen, Gudrun, Carole and Cesare, I always appreciate your comments.

An absolutely stunning piece, Alan. Love the flickering light and the warm glow of the sky, which contrasts perfectly with the cool shapes of the mountains. Looking forward to reading your article!

Beautiful work Alan , I love that shimmer on the water

Less is more and your painting proves this Alan, just wish I could cut down on all the details but my brain just doesn't want to work that way :)

Oil on board 10 x 25in. Really basic and simple no-frills stuff, painted en-plein-air a few weeks ago, concentrating on quick 30-minute sketches to try and capture something of the ambience of a scene, cutting out all detail. I have a WIP feature in September's e-newsletter called 30-minute oil sketching which I hope a few of you may find interesting.
