Your dedication has worked a treat, this is excellent

After all your hard work the result is a truly superb painting. Very well, Diana!!

Magnificent.

Very good work.

Truly inspiring work.

An excellent exercise in “ problem solving” Diana. Shadows are the devil to get right - Especially when, like this, it’s all about shadows. You did it though!

This is so good Diana. The warm light is really felt

Who but you could do it all with such skill and result Diana.

Beautifully done Diana, lovely shadows and light.

Very impressive, Diana.

Great painting. The bannister is really well observed.

Another unusual subject skilfully painted, Diana. Love the warm colour of the floorboards.

Superb work and beautifully done.

Thanks Heather. I won’t be beaten 😂 Thank you David. I did my planning as I went along which isn’t the best preparation! That’s nice of you Chris. Thank you

I’m pleased you like it Andrew. Thanks for looking That’s lovey Valerie Thank you. Marjorie, those shadows were challenging!! Such a mix of varied tones and softer edges. We love a challenge though. Thank you. Thanks Martin. It really was yellow! Thanks so much for your interest Spencer. Oh Jim, I wish you could have seen the scenes of despair and chaos during the painting of these. Thank you

Thank you Val-Irene. I’m pleased you like it. It certainly had its moments!! Thanks Denise. I usually avoid straight likes but the light was too tempting not to try That’s a lovely compliment Ellen which I really appreciate. Thanks so much for your interest Mia. It was one of those that was a relief to finish. Thank you William. It’s little things that catch the eye ! I’m pleased you noticed the bannister.

Thanks so much for your interest Coral. I appreciate it I was pleased with the varnished look of the wooden floor. Its washes of W&N burnt sienna. Some other brands are quite terracotta red Thanks for taking time to respond to my painting Paul. Petra, thanks for your interest. I do appreciate you looking

The perspective is wonderful - and you really get the 'feel' of the house. Well done!

Thanks Peter. Perspective and straight lines 😳

Serious painting! Beautiful work. Nice light and shadows.

I really appreciate your thoughts Roland. It took some blood ,sweat and tears!

A fascinating painting Diana. Whilst I definitely appreciate your skills and struggles with watercolour, I really want to know what is through the doorway and up those stairs!

Oh and I meant to say, why Kumasi?

Hello Tessa. That’s the name of the house . Thank you for your lovely comment

I agree with everyone else. There is a lot of warmth in this - and a real sense of home.

Thank you Bobbie. That’s a lovely way to describe it

As always Diana……exceptional.

Love it Diana. Yes superb painting, floor is amazing!

Lovely combination of warm and cool lights and shadows.

Thank you Fiona. It was plagued with challenges. Thank you Val. We all inspire each other on here. Thanks Sue. I was surprised how ‘varnished’ it looked. Thanks you. It was a rare occasion when I thought about colour theory. Briefly, but there !

My intention was to capture this warm , winter light. It was a struggle and I had two attempts on half sheet sized paper. Putting in the darks actually reduced the light initially so the choice was between keeping it very light all over with subtle shadows or go in with strong darks. The stairs were the hardest with that large area of wet in wet work. Nearing the end I applied strong warm colours to the foreground to bring it forward.
