Amazing setting for the spoons Diana. I can’t begin to imagine where you started when painting it.

I know what you mean Diana. But a super comeback! I never cease to marvel at the effects you create in watercolour, I can certainly see the discipline required here. After something like this do you ever want to go in the opposite direction, throw caution to the wind and just slap it on? I do.

A superb piece of work.

Incredible piece of work, love it.

Amazing patience in getting detail just right Diana. Clever work.

Mind boggling Diana! How do you do it?

Stunning skill on show. Love it.

This is a stunner Diana!

Absolutely stunning and so beautifully done, you are so skilled as a printer .

Lovely painting

Brilliant. Your observational skills are exceptional Diana, matched by your highly disciplined transfer of those observations onto the paper. A wonderful study.

Love it! Limited palette and high contrast. Excellent work!

Terrific painting and idea, Diana

Amazing !

This is amazing Diana and such a complex challenge. Good to see you back in the saddle. You should be extremely pleased with this beauty.

Stunning painting

I was only thinking about you this morning Diana, indirectly. I saw a Peregrine falcon in the field at the back of me devouring her prize, and I thought about your hauntingly beautiful paintings of birds. On a more cheerful note, and not a feather in sight, this is wonderful and so well observed and painted.

This certainly would have tested your concentration Diana. It's a fabulous piece of work!!

Super! And really good to see you back!

Good morning Christine and thank you for your interest I usually start somewhere where there is strong tonal contrast and sharp lines. Thanks Marjorie. Yes, I definitely enjoy a much less disciplined approach sometimes. I may need to do that a lot more often because sitting for long periods is getting too painful. Standing for periods is getting necessary. Good morning Stephen and thanks for your support again. Hello Denise and a big thank you for your interest and encouragement. Hello Jim. I have been struggling with my painting for a while. I never lost my passion or even subject ideas but life got in the way. It’s almost a relief to have produced a painting!

Hello Russell. I’m not a jigsaw lover but I see these subjects as a collection or shapes and tones. The hardest areas are the looser ones. Thank you Lewis. I’m a bit rusty and it takes several hours before my brushes making the marks I want Lots of practice needed. Thank you Carole. I’m really pleased that you like it. Many thanks Paul. I really enjoy sweeping in watery washes with a huge mop brush

Thank you Faye. Your thoughts are very encouraging. Morning Brian and thanks again for your interest and complimentary feedback. Hello Linda. Thanks for your encouragement and yes, the palette is wonderful. My favourite colours. Thank you Maureen. I started putting items in foil like apples and strawberries to get bright reflections but really like the shadows and highlights of the foil itself.

Thank you Anne. It’s good to hear from you. Much appreciated Morning Carole and many thanks. I have spinal problems that result in pain from sitting at my painting table. I am considering alternating between bursts of standing at an easel and sitting which will probably result it two different styles and a wider variety of media. Thank you Romila. I was going to abandon it two days ago but pleased to have disciplined myself to work through setbacks. Thank you Diane. I really appreciate your ongoing support Good morning Fiona. During the long period when I struggled to produce much artwork, I returned to the place where I saw that bird skeleton, hoping to see its decomposition progress. The two paintings of it inspired so much artistic passion that I keep returning to the subject with the intention of developing it. Thank you for thinking of me in connection. I really appreciate it. Morning Audrey. I managed a few hours a day over three days. I’m pleased you like the result. Thanks Thalia. It’s do good to hear from you all again. I did a few outdoor sketches over the summer but now Autumn is taking over, it’s studio time again.

So sad that you can spend so little time at your art at one go Diana, but each one you produce is a gem and so skilfully done. Best wishes, Carole.

Thank you Carole. It is sad but it could result in a new period/ style in my art 👍 As Marjorie said in her comment, it’s an opportunity to let rip on something wild !

Stunning Diana, lots to like here shall look forward to more ...!

Good positive thinking Diana! Can’t wait for your wild abandonment 👍🤔

Unbelivable skill and patience in all your works, Diana. In all your paintings there is much to learn for the beholder.

Stunning Diana.

Thank you Heather and I hope there will be mire 👍 Watch this space Carole ! 😂 Thank you Cesare Good to hear from you. Hello Elaine and thanks for your interest and lovely compliment.

It’s a breath of fresh air to see your imaginative choice of subject matter in all of your paintings. Wonderful.

Good to see you posting again Diane and obviously you have not lost your skills! So sorry to hear about your back problem which must be very frustrating. I love Plein air painting for which I prefer to be standing and do feel it frees me up even when indoors: easier to stand back and peruse!

Nice piece Diana.

Thank you Elaine. I haven’t lost the passion for creativity but need to adapt my way of working Hello Tessa and thanks for your lovely comment. Unfortunately, the few hours spent painting this one has resulted in several days of severe pain. Sitting at a table is definitely not ideal at the moment. I need to explore different chairs and table angles. If I stand , I’ll be able to keep walking about so will give it a go 👍 Thanks Shaun. I’m really pleased that you like it. Many thanks

Half imperial watercolour on Saunders Waterford heavy Not paper. I’m happy to have produced the first disciplined painting for many months. Concentration has been a struggle for a variety of reasons . Like any other skill, there is lots to catch up on after an absence.
