Towards Porthcurno

Love it. Love the area too.

Stunning rocks and cave.

This is wonderful Diana with your usual subtle tones. Our art group used to have a regular painting (and eating!) week In Cornwall but not for the last two years like so many other things. We hope to go again this year and you have revived my enthusiasm for painting beach scenes!

Great study Diana! Love the warm/cool play in the rocks.

The detail on the rocks is superb!!

A beauty love it 😀

Terrific contrasts & textures.

Beautiful calming painting Diana.

Smashing painting. Do you put the wash on and do the pen afterwards. I just wondered. I really like the pen and wash and would like to try it. Or is there a water proof pen and you do the sketch first and then put the wash on.

Really beautiful rocks so well rendered Diana.

Love the way you captured the rocks.

Excellent work

Great work, Diana I love the subtle tones that create the cliff -lovelt.

Love the way you have painted the rocks.

Wonderful Diana. Could just climb those rocks!

I love your rocks. They are really hard to get right.

Really love this Diana

Smashing, those rocks are particularly stunning

Your pen and wash work is excellent Diana, a bit more accurate than mine! Love the unusual composition…

Thanks Elaine. I do love drawing outside but this is my husband’s favourite beach which is too difficult for me to access so I’m using his images. Thank you Christine. I love the rich , earthy darks. Thank you Guy. My weaknesses is colour temperature but I did notice the warm, cool blues Thanks for pointing that out. Thank you David. A real tonal study! Thank you Faye. I think the winter colours are beautifully mellow. Thanks Audrey. The palette is calm thought the rocks break it up with their angular lines. Thank you Denise. I love drawing landscapes in ink because I feel free to scribble away. Sometimes I deliberately use a non waterproof pen then apply water like a wash. This isn’t true pen and wash but more an ink drawing with watercolour over. This pen is waterproof. Thank you for asking. Thank you Carole. I’m surprised how the rocks really attracted my attention. They have a wonderful selection of shapes and my favourite palette. Thank you Paula I think the highlights are exaggerated in places which defines the shape. Thank you for your ongoing interest Romila. I appreciate it. Thank you Willie. The area of dark is difficult to capture without it looking like a black blob. Thank you David. I think the rocks are the stars of this show. Thank you Vicky. Sadly, I can’t get down there but I have some good sketching places from the cliffs. Thank you Linda. I can’t explain why , but I’m more confident using a pen. Thank you Thalia. The palette is beautiful. Thank you Heather. They are a wonderful combination of angles and highlights Thanks Alan. It’s not traditional pen and wash , more an ink drawing with watercolour. I feel more confident drawing landscapes with a pen. 😂

Beautifully done, Diana, love the textures and colours in the rocks.

Thanks Diana.

I recognised this immediately as your work, Diana. It’s fabulous, I can feel the sharpness of those rocks.

I echo all that’s been said Diana. Whatever you touch turns to gold!

Thank you Jenny. The rich earth Colours are wonderful, particularly on a winter day. You’re welcome Denise. How lovely to have work recognised as mine. Thanks Ellen The woman with the golden brush/ pen. What a wonderful thought. Lovely compliment Fiona. Made me smile.

Thank you so much for your lovely compliment Aisling

Pen and watercolour on Saunders Waterford CP paper. Having used pen and watercolour on a small painting recently, I wondered if it would work on a larger scale It’s not true pen and wash as more detailed in the washes
