Very good. I like the brushwork and the way you’ve captured the ivy and the line of trees in the background.

Terrific work Alan. Some beautiful lines with that Rigger brush.

Great dramatic and graphic style Alan. You mention tinted paper and that would be ideal for sketches like this.

Great trio Alan and I agree with Andrew too.

I agree with the above comments, Alan. This is super!

Love the clean lines of the river over the broader tinted trunks. So effective with minimal strokes

Very attractive work Alan.

Excellent artwork 👍

Lovely work Alan. Funnily enough, I've just been reading about eco friendly watercolours on an email I got from Winsor & Newton.

Thanks guys, always appreciate your support! More on the way… I’m on a roll with these loose sketches.

Oh I do like this! Tasteful, beautiful line/brush strokes 😍

Beautifully done Alan

So natural Alan, I admire your style and technique of using ink. Solid and stout, with wonderful presence.

Very good tonal work Alan, I often think tonal works are better than ones with colour.

Love the energy in this Alan!

Just like the simplicity of these lovely trees Alan.

Just beautiful Alan!

Beautifully done Alan, it takes a lot of skill to make something simple look so good .

Yes I love the graphic style you use Alan - I enjoy seeing your work.

Very effective, Alan – would be great as a watercolour, would be itching to try it in colour, but wonderful as it is too.

Well, he often positioned his trees in groups of three, with usually at least one leaning out of the composition, hence the title! Rigger brush and Indian ink in a Hahnemuhle 105g A4 Bamboo Sketch pad. I’m currently testing out a range of eco friendly products from this well established company, for a later series in The Artist magazine. So far, I’m rather impressed, but I wish they had a range of tinted papers. I will put the question to them!
