Cumbre Del Sol – Costa Blanca.
Oil on MDF 20 x 20in. (50.8 x 50.8cm). A studio painting worked up from colour sketches and drawings made at the scene. Gorgeous earth colours such as ochre’s and sienna’s were used to convey the warmth of the terrain in this stunning landscape. The road down to the small beach snakes around the mountain and is pretty hair-raising to drive down! That all adds to the fun! This is one of several Spanish scenes that I am currently working on from my recent trip – that’s the benefit of recording information in sketch books, an invaluable source of inspiration. I've kept the buildings low key in this piece, so as not to distract the eye of the viewer too much. As always, my own interpretation of the scene, I never strive to copy nature!
