Beautiful colours. Abstract feel.. I like it. Nice composition. I would to try Jackson boards. Do you prefer them to canvases?

Thanks Faye… yes I do, just more rigid to paint on. My usual boards are Belle Arti on MDF from Jackson’s.

Oooh! Love your colours and brilliant textures showing in this Alan. Have a wonderful Christmas x

Okay thank Alan. 😊

Love the very textural results you have achieved Alan and the colours sing beautifully.

Lovely Alan ... and my part of the world

A superb example of how to use a photo, and of one of the most difficult skies, as a reference point only Alan. So beautifully described and executed. Look forward to your article.

Very nice Alan. So typically you!

Love the colours and semi abstract feel to this, Alan.

This just glows Alan, stunning.

Oh fabulous Alan- it really is a beauty- so inspiring

Such very atmospheric colours, Alan. Great!

That looks so beautiful, the colours are singing, one I'll be trying Alan.

I look forward to your article. Very nice indeed!

So beautifully painted

Lovely colours, a just right combination Alan, very similar to our sunrise this morning. Merry Christmas .

Excellent painting Alan - love the understated sunset and the semi abstract feel. The colours are beautiful.

The tonal balance is perfect in this Alan and your understated use of colour make this a superb painting. Great use of scumbling adds to the effect Alan.

Gorgeous painting - very much looking forward to your next article.

Glorious palette and brushwork Alan.

A 4-part WIP for the March e-newsletter. I’ve worked from a stunning photograph courtesy of Dawn, but used it as a reference point only. Sunsets are notoriously difficult to get right, it’s so easy to go ‘over the top’ with the colours - this is verging on borderline… I’ve used scumbling and glazing on the final stage. Oil on Jackson’s Rough Jute MDF board 30 x 40cm
