So many elements in this painting to like - the lively and colourful foreground, the buildings and contrasts in the centre and the expressive sky and they all work together perfectly. I keep finding elements to enjoy - superb Alan.

I agree with other comments. Super brushmarks in the sky, love the violet marks in the bottom half, in fact, as Shaun says, so much to like in this Alan!

Your sky and the light emanating from it is always such an important part of the painting Alan and this is no exception. Another terrific painting with great tonal quality.

Alan - it's utterly brilliant: I can see very few areas in which it might benefit from a touch more work (right foreground, leading up the lane, since you ask as haven't) but they're just my opinion; the painting as a whole works perfectly.

I missed this one, Alan. Maybe connected to my thoughts ( on the forum) about 4 postings per person which make everything whizz by! For me, it’s the light here which catches my attention, the warm sunny low light which we get at this time of the year. Luvverly!

I posted the watercolour version of this local scene a month or so ago, and thought I'd have a go at it using oils. Probably needs a bit more work here and there, but I'll put it to one side for the moment. Oil on board 40 x 50cm
