Beautiful, this is actually my favourite

I really love these colours Alan, really beautiful

My sort of painting Alan, great atmosphere with lovely loose marks.

Wonderful use of colour, and that big sky certainly gives a feeling of wide-open space.

Great contrasts and colour.

A great painting and done beautifully.

I love it. A stunning painting.

Full of story! Love it.

Really, really lovely painting.

Such a beauty Alan. Reminds me of the old Dutch masters so much.

Absolutely stunning, Alan! Superb palette, wonderfully atmospheric and excellent composition.

Beautiful. Caught my eye straight away.

I agree with Carole, this has a look of the Old Masters, but with a modern twist. Love the colours.

Is there a hint of Turner in there somewhere Alan? I delightful scene with a hazy mix of colour, texture and detail.

Another light filled gem Alan.

I do like it, very much indeed!

Excellent colours (red sail, sky etc, etc,) Impressive,

This painting would also work, as you can see on-screen, if cropped. Perhaps most very good paintings do. But if you did crop it, you'd miss that fantastic red-purple haze in the top right, which for me is the best part of this painting - it is, without qualification, beautiful.

Breath of fresh air Alan, beautiful colours very pleasing painting.

Fabulously captured Allan. The colour is gorgeously handled. Really like it.

You keep doing it Alan, must have something to do with talent!

Gosh thanks guys! Always pleased to read your comments and I’m glad that you like this latest effort!

Alan it's so difficult to think of anything to say that hasn't been said on countless occasions before - it's just a classic Alan Bickley, 'nuff said!

This is so good Alan, gorgeous

This is so exquisite Alan - jewel like colours.

Just beautiful!! Have a great Christmas Alan.

Plenty going on here Alan. A pleasing, busy scene; just as it would be on the Broads! Regards John

Super painting - very striking.

Gorgeous, Alan - I love this.

What can I add Alan but love it

I love how the eye is taken to that ares of highlight The reflections are beautiful

Beautiful

Stunningly beautiful, Alan.

I'm a great admirer of anyone with this style of painting, and especially such an obvious master of it, the palette of colours sing from the very moment you first look at it! Lovely painting!! 🙏

A lovely atmospheric painting Alan, using such beautifully harmonised colours.

WOW! This is so beautiful and so skilful, I have been going through your body of work you have posted and you are so talented! I have been trying to find the 5min watercolour and charcoal sketch I commented on as I owe you an apology, I was wrong for what you had done in 5 min was incredible! I would love to see you bring out a book about your work as you have so much to say in so many mediums, I’m still struggling in watercolour although I do have some oils and acrylics which I have not touched! Just can’t pick up the courage but then I look at your work and it fills me with inspiration! One truly talented artist!!

Thank you William, I appreciate your comments. No book yet, but I am a regular feature writer for The Artist magazine. Why not contribute to the forum, you can ask for help and advice on there, and I’m only too pleased to help with anything… critique or just encouragement… think about it!

Forgot to mention, the little watercolour is on the Home Page, easily found on there.

My previous version of a Wherry boat on the Norfolk Broads went down well on here, so I’ve had a go at another! Totally different colours and atmosphere. I hope you like it . Oil on Jackson’s canvas/MDF board 40 x 50cm.
