This is excellent Diana , full of action your boats are very good despite your dislike of painting them.

Love the drama and love the sky!

I think this is a tremendous painting in how to capture speed and motion. Love the blustery sky too. And your boats? Fabulous too.

I agree with Sarah both in terms of the drama but especially the sky.

Well, any lack of passion doesn't show, another super painting Thalia

This is super Diana. I like everything about it. Sky, boats and sea all done superbly.

Absolutely superb!! It is interesting that you dislike boats when you paint them so well!!

I love it Diana, especially after watching the Olympics sailing where we do do well. This captures it wonderfully. Bravo..

You have certainly caught the wind behind the sails and the movement of the craft. You would never think it was a subject you was not to fussed on.

I love the movement and drama. The subject suits you well despite your reservations.

I paint many of my weekly exercise pieces purely as an exercise in observation of colour, tone. Shape etc. My often heart sinks when I see the subject of the week but see how it’s turned into beautiful jewel like watercolour paintings by the tutor David Thomas. People say it’s clear when a painting is created with passion. I feel the lines and colours flow when my subject inspires me and in contrast paint many of these weekly exercises within an almost mathematical set of rules Nevertheless, it’s enjoyable and excellent for observation skills.

It is a delight to paint the things we love to paint but I suppose challenging ourselves must result in better work. You certainly have applied enthusiasm and vigour that shines out from the painting and gives it a fresh, interesting, lively, appeal Diana.

Fabulous, such incredible movement!

Great painting. Full of movement and great boats.

A real sense of movement.

Beautiful painting Diana

A class act Diana!

The sense of the yachts battling with the power of the sea is so well captured, Diana. It's a dynamic and very expressive painting.

Excellent, Diana - everything is painted beautifully and you have captured the wonderful feeling of movement too!

Thanks Paul. I looked at the boats as a collection of shape colours and angles. Thank you Sarah. I did enjoy painting the sky. Thank you Chris. Credit to David Thomas for the lively image. Thank you William. I’m ok with the sky.

Smashing painting, Diana, great action and movement in the sky and the water.

Thanks Heather. I did enjoy painting the sky. Thank you David. That’s a very encouraging comment. Thanks David S My tutor tells me I should be able to paint any subject with equal skill ! Thanks Jim. It’s quite dramatic and looks like the crew need a lot of skill. Thanks Denise. Compliment indeed.

A piece which captures a wonderful sense of movement and which has great energy.

Thank you Colette. I tried to approach this with a diligent attitude. Your right Carole. Step out of comfort zone sometimes. Thank you for your encouragement. Thanks Alan. Thanks to my tutor too. Thank you Christine and Stephen. It’s so motivating to read your great feedback. Many thanks David. Much appreciated. Your flattering comment is a great boost to my confidence. Thank you.

My watercolour class jokes about my dislike of painting boats and architecture. I am trying to stop myself putting the barriers down when I know that I’d the weeks subject. Pained as an exercise rather with passion. Watercolour on Bockingford
