A brilliant sense of place and atmosphere Martin. Your use of tonal values is superb.

Excellent artwork Martin 😊

Wonderful.

Very effective and atmospheric, especially the water.

Very moody and so effective!!

Silence and calm, beautiful Martin.

It's really good Martin and you have perfectly captured that eerie morning mist. So much to like and admire about this painting.

Such an unusual composition that oozes atmosphere Martin!

This is particularly good it’s full of atmosphere and has a bit of added suspense as to what might lay beyond.

So sharp and yet delicate marks. A beautiful atmospheric piece of work Martin

Superb! The water is brilliant

Love the atmosphere in this Martin.

Splendid piece of work.

very atmospheric indeed. The near monotone works well.

Brilliant artwork Martin. Both dramatic and atmospheric!

Beautiful clean work, Martin.

Great impact Martin. Love it.

Stands out. I like a foggy day scene.

Thanks everyone for your generous comments. I do appreciate them all. I’m glad you feel some of the atmosphere which I felt has transferred to the picture.

Really admire you for working en plein air, and the result is brilliant!

Thanks very much Hilary. I have to push myself and wrap up in lots of layers to paint outdoors when it’s cold. It’s usually worth it though.

Thanks Coral. Appreciate your comment

A wonderful sense of the day Martin. Your painting, along with the narrative, I can sense the hushed silence and being touched as well as breathing in the dampness.

Thanks for your lovely comments Fiona

The palette snd shapes of those reeds really give the eerie atmosphere. The reflections add beautiful calm.

Thanks for looking Diana. Your comments are very welcome

Another chilly visit in the fog to the lakes at Hatfield Moors last week. Very eerie in the silence broken by the occasional call of a water bird. Sketched En plein air in Fude pen and carbon ink. Added watercolour washes indoors. 14x11” on Arches fine grain watercolour paper
