Another one to treasure Lewis.

Wonderful piece of painting.

Challenge very well met

Superb artwork Lew, a sight that’s not seem these days , apart from the characters cloths it reminded me of Leeds market when I was a youngster.

When I was a nipper, Dad would take us to the West End in London to see the Christmas lights. There were still street venders selling hot chestnuts back then. Thanks very much for your comments, always appreciated.

Now there's something I miss from childhood. Thanks for the memory Lew.

Delightful compilation of characters Lew, brilliant!

Brilliant, Lewis!

This one is a bit of a hot chestnut Lewis. Amazing characters as usual.

Hot roast chestnuts and black peas stalls were ever present on fairgrounds back in time as you'll remember Lew. Love the sketch.

Yes Jim, I do. I lived near Greenwich Park in London, at this time of year the huge chestnut trees in the park would be dropping their nuts. We kids would fill our pockets with them. Like everybody else we have a coal fire back then, Dad loved to roast chestnuts on it. Being like all kids everywhere, I'd have eaten most of them by the time I got home.

Terrific characters Lewis, there was a hot chestnut stand on the Square in our town last week

Wonderful, Lewis!

Just brilliant Lewis! The glow from the brazier on his coat and scarf to the blue of his nose is just so superbly observed and drawn.

Good one, Lewis.

Another great sketch Lewis. Brill.

A bit of nostalgia her Lewis. Nobody bothers with roasted chestnuts anymore. Love the noses one blue with the cold and the other red. Amazing as always Lewis.

Love it. Great art 🎨 🙂

Great one for the challenge. Love his open mouth with his tongue waggling.

Fabulous as ever Lew! 😆

A perfect nostalgic Christmas challenge. We used to roast them on a shovel ( after you made a slit in them so they wouldn’t explode).

;) I'm not getting much of sense from that text (I'm Polish), but I love your style of drawing! ;)

What wonderful memories your painting and dialogue has evoked Lewis. I love chestnuts in any form, it was an annual tradition to go on to the Cuckney estate and fill one of those shopping trollies (on wheels) we didn’t alway manage it. But they would last until Christmas and added to the stuffing, they were roasted on the fire but the best was sharing a pen knife with my dad and peeling them in to a brass ashtray that he had turned from a gun shell when he served in the Navy. I still go chestnutting when the occasion arises.

Absolutely brilliant as usual, Lewis

Oh what a gob.....brilliant Lew. They always are .

I remember them too, with their braziers - a very welcome moment of warmth! Lovely painting Lewis!

Like you I remember street vendors of hot chestnuts (in Bristol). I love the illustration Lew.

Really great, Lewis. Make a great card.
