I shall have to go and read that poem again, I've forgotten its context. In the meantime, I like that deep, transparent blue.

The shadow for the figure flowed back into the coat, and I liked the effect, so left it alone. It is meant to be the spirit, or ghost I suppose, of Thomas Hardy, leaning on the gate to the wood - listening to the thrush's song. It's Indigo blue - a blue I love.
