A lovely piece with clean, translucent washes and well places lost and found edges. All the hallmarks of a good watercolour.

Lovely colour choices and washes

This is lovely work Hillary!

Beautiful picture Hilary.

Lovely colours. I really like it.

Love the sound and look of your palette Hilary. You have created a gorgeous watercolour from them.

Lovely shades of winter Hilary.

Lovely painting Hilary

Excellent.

Lovely colours and composition.

Lovely watercolour.

Thank you all for your comments, they are much appreciated. I forgot that there is another colour - blue in the sky, cobalt and cerulean I think.

Very delicate and refined. I love the contrast between "warm" left and "cool" right. And of course, the harmony of the sky and the ground. Is it mostly plein air or mostly studio work?

Dmitry - thanks for your comment. It's mostly studio work from my own photos, but not necessarily bearing much resemblance in the end result. I have now joined a plein air group locally, so 2024 should result in more plein air paintings!

This is my favourite Hilary. Love the soft fresh paint washes and composition.

A watercolour on Magnani 1404 paper. Trying to keep to a limited palette, here they are favourite colours - burnt sienna, ultramarine violet and Schmincke's tundra violet.

Many moons ago I completed an Art Foundation, and have attended art classes and workshops along the way, but basically I'm self-taught. I prefer to work in watercolour - I enjoy being expressive with colour and line, and experimenting with mixed media.
