It may be your off day but I find the painting rather evocative!!

Some lovely marks and colour combinations nevertheless Fiona... off days change in the eye of the beholder!

Well now! You’ve probably salvaged it by applying ink with a sort of ‘hung-ho’ approach… I rather like it!

You are kind …..david, Sarah and Alan about my splodges and scribbles, thank you. There was a lot of ‘gung- ho’ going on Alan!

Albeit gung - ho, the pen and ink "pulls" it together. As off days go........not a bad one.

Think the ink probably has saved it, Fiona - seems to pull it together with some interesting marks.

I do like this Fiona! The combinations of differing media give it boldness. I can understand your title as to me your fences provide protection to those needing safety.

Never an off day..I think this is really lovely Fiona.

Lovely Fiona all works well 😀

Looks good to me Fiona.

I wish my off days were as good as this!! Cracking Fiona!

There is no such thing as a off day Fiona , not when it turns out do well . Maybe you should consider call them , didn’t quite make it day , DQMID days , as you know the military like to have abbreviations for everything.

It is exciting and rich in marks. The movement of posts are great in the bottom right - I think you have pulled it around

Richard, Jenny, Spencer, Lesley, Faye, Denise, Rachel, Paul, David….thank you all. Your observations have made me look again at the scribbles and splodges in a different light. I see what you mean about the posts David, they done appear to be rigid. Yes Spencer, and also, I don’t know if anyone spotted it but there is a boat tied up.

Always liked mixed media. The composition is strong, nice colours and bold pen marks makes this successful.

An off day? I love all the movement in this Fiona. Those posts that David mentioned - they really add balance.

Well I think it's great, Fiona. I love the clean watercolour. Is it Naples Yellow? .......and the oil pastel dragged across the tooth of the paper.........and all the stumps and scratchy undergrowth. I see a touch of Joan Eardley here.

Great composition and pallet.

Interesting Fiona, I like your colouring.

I’m loving your “off day” painting, Fiona. I wish my off days were like this!

Certainly no off day, I think this is fantastic! Look at in a few days Fiona…..you will see it differently.

Well, despite what you say, it looks good and I love the mark making

Nice marks and it reflects the weather that we have had ....

Dympna, Roger, (old Holland raw sienna deep) Marjorie, Judith, David, Ellen, Carole, Heather, Gudrun…..thank you all very much for your encouraging comments, perhaps not too bad for an off day. 😂

Yes Fiona - sometimes you have to attack the surface and it really works here.

Great movement from the abstract marks.

Shaun, Stevan…..thanks very much to you both. It sometimes makes a difference to scratch it up a little.

I was attracted to this straightaway. The markings are exciting!

15”x11” mixed media….watercolour, Indian ink, oil pastel on blue tinted Bockingford paper. A made up scene and another go on this paper, which started out to be a watercolour, then it went downhill. A tad miffed, I tried to save it with ink, that didn’t work, and from the end result neither did the oil pastel…lol. I class it as an off day!
