Lovely idea, Fiona. I haven't taken advantage of Alan's tuitions but always admire his work and his willingness to help. This is lovely...It has a touch of John Blockley too whom I much admire.

I can see who your mentor is Fiona. This is delightful. happy Christmas.

Very nice Fiona, where would we be without Seago?

Wonderfully delicate; exquisite, even!

Many thanks Ruth, Sylvia, Stephen and Amanda, very grateful to you for taking the time to look and comment.

I think this is more a tribute to your continuing journey towards perfecting your watercolour style, which you have done so admirably in 2012. I know you have had welcome help and advice along the way but in the end you have to put that into action and that is the tricky bit. I have seen you trying to push your boundaries and experiment with new and different ways of expressing yourself. I have seen you increasing your mastery of watercolour to the point now that your paintings look effortless. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. I look forward to seeing what you do in 2013 and I am sure it will be interesting and exciting. Happy Christmas!

Lovely relaxed painting Fiona, good feeling of depth with the blurred background, love the undergrowth and the water as well, merry Christmas and happy and successful new year, hope to see more of your paintings next year x

Just checked out this gallery of yours Fiona and am very impressed you are inspiring me to get back to some landscapes

I think this is one of your best yet Fiona, and thank you for all your comments on my work over the past year, Merry Christmas!

A very appropriate tribute: I can certainly see Alan's influence there (and know how he's helped you over the year), and Seago's: but most of all, I can see you, and the huge strides you've made since you began.

What a lovely tribute to Alan -I'm sure he will be impressed with this. Your progress and developement over the past year has been amazing and almost all your paintings have this wonderful "Fiona" palette which makes them stand out in the gallery. Thank you for all your encouragement over the past year -hopefully I will get more time and inspiration in 2013. My very best wishes to you and yours for Christmas and the new year.

What a beautiful tribute to Alan and agree with what has been said about this being one of your best. To me, that burnt sienna in the middle is a touch of genius and really helps to make this painting the little cracker it is. Have a great Christmas Fiona despite all this awful rain ( is it as bad up your way as it is here? ) and I look forward to seeing your postings in 2013. X

Thea, you have wonderful turn of phrase which gives confidence to whoever you bestow your kind words on. I feel I have made a little progress this year but couldn't have achieved it without the support of my 'virtual' friends on POL. Thank you so much X. Merry Christmas!

Ros and Debs....thank you ladies.....Merry Christmas to you!

Robert, thank you for yor advise and patience when I've branched off into oils and acrylics, you are very generous in passing on your experiences. Merry Christmas! X

Carol, you are very kind and your thoughful comment is very much appreciated. I hope Santa brings you lots of painting goodies this year, especially more time to paint! Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and a peaceful New Year!

Thank you very much Val......I've enjoyed sharing the geography of Scotland with you, especially in paint! I hope you manage to visit lots of places that give you inspiraion in 2013. Merry Christmas to you and your family! We haven't had very much rain here, we seem to be on the edge of it thankfully. X

Late to the party but still very much in admiration - a real winner Fiona

Like Michael says! Finesse and confidence is in this one!

Beautifully done, Fiona. I can do no better than to echo the above comments, particularly those from Thea.

Thank you Michael, thank you Gudrun.......looking forward to rubbing shoulders with you both in the gallery in 2013!

Lionel, Thank you very much, your comments always mean a great deal to me. I'm really pleased you are painting again I hope you are enjoying it, I can tell you I am! Your last painting (trial 1) is excellent. Thanks again X

I thought I would make my last painting and last posting of 2012 a tribute to Alan. A thank you for his continued spark of inspiration from all us would be watercolourist. Thank you Alan!! Arches paper and Old Holland watercolours; U. marine, V. brown, R. sienna and B. sienna. There's a little bit of a Seago influence too.
