What a beautiful painting

What a beautiful painting

Lovely subject and stunning painting Fiona - If this is the result of just practicing what are you going to produce next?, can't wait!

It's lovely too Fiona !

Fiona this an absolute gem. Wish my practicing could produce something like this.

I think you've gone dark enough! What a great start to the year you're having

Beautifully painted Fiona.

Another really nice painting Fiona, it is another nice piece for your portfolio , well done.

Many, many thanks everyone for your lovely comments. I posted not expecting too much feedback as it's a bit dull, but a good exercise for building tones. Thanks again.

Very nice Fiona, I once read that tone is the number tool for the artist, I'm sure it would pay dividends for us all to practice tonal studies.

It is not dull at all, Fiona. I love monochrome paintings and this is a great one. Well done!

Thank you Stephen, Mia, there are some beautiful photo's in this book I'd love to have a go at doing a series of them with a little verse of poetry that sums the subject up. Thanks again.

I think it has all been said, Fiona! I can only agree with the above comments; this is a delightful painting and look forward to many more from you. Thanks also for mentioning me! By the way, I remember having to learn "The Brook" at school, more years ago than I care to remember. Anyway, I love your picture and the tones you have produced. Well done!!

Another lovely painting Fiona

Thank you Lionel, for your support and your tip. That's a long poem to learn, lovely though. Thanks Petra I appreciate your comment.

Another lovely piece, Fiona! Great tonal work!

Many thanks Seok.

I'm busy playing "catch-up" up on my favourite artists as I have been in hospital for a small op and seem to have missed such a lot of paintings. Even though I love colour this is not "dull" at all, such a variety of tones and good composition make it a very attractive piece and I love your title, it suits the painting so well.

Thanks Val, I hope your op went well and you are feeling none the worse for it. Will you have plenty of painting opportunities whilst your're recovering.

I have attempted to do this painting to practise tones. At Lionels suggestion I have used different strengths of watered down Quink ink. Not sure whether I have done enough of the very darkest tone which is neat ink. Great idea Lionel. The picture is taken from a book which contains sepia photo's, poetry & prose. A verse from 'The Brook' . I chatter over stony ways, in little sharps and trebles, I bubble into eddying bays, I babble on the pebbles. Tennyson.
