Its good to see this technique Alan, it gives us who are trying to master oils help and advice.

Super effect Alan. What art is about; lovely.

So bright and warm, Alan. Love the impressionistic touch!

Like this a lot Alan

Recognised your style immediately Alan. Love the vigorous brush marks on the rocks, reflections and water. A strong immediate painting, which grabs one’s attention.

Love the impressionistic style of this, Alan.

Terrific textural work, Alan and I really like that sparkle in both the water and the sand. A joy to see.

A different technique perhaps but your inimitable style is instantly recognisable Alan, a fantastic painting.

That thick application of paint really gets the senses going Alan. It's a lovely painting.

Interesting impressionistic textures, Alan, but it was the blue/orange combination which caught my eye.

Great mark making Alan, with singing colours.

Magnificent! I look forward to see your article as really want to try impasto technique.

Super blue! Wonderful expressive marks, too Alan!

Super colours and great cliffs / rocks.

Nice one Alan! Super brush marks and colours.

Lovely painting Alan - jumps off the page!

Beautiful rock textures Alan and warm colours set off by that sparkling sea.

Gosh thanks everyone, more comments than I anticipated - glad you like it!

Fabulous, Alan. Love the textures, the brushwork and the wonderful way you captured the movement of the water.

Only just seen this Alan - really strong application of paint. I love the colours too. It’s a striking image.

Looking forward to your article!

Small oil on board 30 x 24cm to demonstrate impasto painting for an upcoming 4-part feature on ‘Oil Painting Materials & Techniques’ for The Artist magazine. I’ve deliberately kept it all simple, (the subject and the paint application) - flat brush work in the background leading to heavier impasto work in the foreground.
