Just to add, it's oil on MDF, 20 x 20in.

This caught my eye straight away, Alan, I really like these colours - and the composition.

Like this a lot Alan

I love this one Alan and totally agree with Jenny.

What a lovely view ! Beautifully depicted.

Your new technique certainly works, Alan. Very realistic and one of your best.

Brilliant Alan, great colours and feeling of distance and how you've captured that winter sunshine is just superb.

Love the colours you have used Alan, the way you have created depth with shadows and tones brings the whole painting alive, lovely work as usual and i'm making a note of the colours you use for future ref,

I like how the tilt of the road draws you into the picture.

Excellent composition Alan, love the toad leading you through the scene, and that tree on the right.

As said, great colours Alan.

Really lovely painting Alan both the composition and the colour palette.

I really like this because of the numerous colours in the snow and the dramatic light.

Absolutely love it Alan! You’re snow scenes are always something special....just right in every way.

This is great - love the colours in the snow and the distance you create.

Really nice - the colours have worked well.

I was recently inspired by an article in the Tips & Techniques section on the POL website. It was an article from a 1980 edition of TA, written by Edward Wesson. Better known for his watercolours, but he was also an accomplished painter in oils. He had painted a snow scene, using a warm brown base/ground, made up of burnt umber and ultramarine, so I gave it a try! I’ve demonstrated my version, reference a local scene from my sketch book, in a 4-part WIP, which will be shown in a future POL newsletter.
