A penurious of Scrooges

Captured superbly.

An eclectic mix of dubious looking Scrooges, all individual and superbly drawn!

All brilliant Lewis

Wonderful Lew.

Such brilliant images Lewis. I love the story and these capture all the different aspects of the character. Fabulous drawing.

Great collection of sketches, Lewis.

Scrooge is one of Dickens’ best characters and A Christmas Carol one of my favourite books. I have to watch the film (Patrick Stewart version) every year at around this time, which reminds me..... Superb selection Lew.

Amazing how so many different images of the same character can all look so right and seem to portray the meanness. Excellent drawings and colours Lew.

Wow, Lewis these are superb drawings - so imaginative!

All super Lewis, I do have a favourite though, it's the one in the centre.

Brilliant work Lew!

My favourite book , and re-read every year about this time - since 1945 . These would enhance the reading thereof.

Thanks to all for your comments. I too read the book each year in December, and we also watch one of the many versions of the film.

All are just superbly portrayed Lewis. I would think that Dickens and his array of brilliantly named characters are perfect material for your fertile imagination.

Brilliant collection, or penurious of Scrooges, Lewis!

Superb Lew, and the candle-lit one is the best Scrooge for me. Great work.

Your work is so wonderful! I envy your ability to produce such wonderful characters.

A wonderful selection of Scrooges, I think my favourite has to be the centre one, he has such a fearful expression on his face!!

Got to say top class work Lewis cartoon work with real integrity. Superb

By the way I was at school well two junior and senior with Patrick Stewart

Thanks again to everybody for your wonderfully generous comments.

All different, all extremely good.

Any of your Scrooge characters would make a great front piece for a COVID Christmas Lewis. The twelve days of COVID. Great characterisation.

A wonderful selection of Scrooge’s with such lovely, bulbous noses. Spoilt for choice Lewis.

Very much as I envisage him (I've modelled myself on that lad!). You really ought to approach a publisher with your drawings and paintings - I don't suppose you want all the headaches that go with that, any more than I do: time to enjoy ourselves rather than chase the fleeting £ - but I'm sure there's someone out there who'd snap you up.

Brilliant, Lew. I must've watched the various versions of A Christmas Carol dozens of times and yet I never tire of them. Top class Scrooges. Bri

Nothing short of pure brilliance Lewis! I will look forward to seeing your new addition.

All are absolutely brilliant, Lewis.

We've been chin-wagging about Christmas...will we have one, wish lists, and all that... and that makes me think of Dicken's 'A Christmas Carol', a favorite story. At this time of year I always draw something from it. I had a look at previous sketches, and tried to come up with a group name for Scrooges...not a 'herd'...I've settled on 'penurious'. Here's a bunch of them. Old stuff, but as they are mostly sketches I won't have posted them all. I will be drawing another this year. Welcome to December.

Self taught. Love drawing. Like to make pictures up, without using reference pics, often in cartoon style. I do other pictures where I do use reference. I'm knocking on a bit, born in 1940 in Greenwich, London. Retired, and loving it.
