Quiet Backwater
The second Flatford Mill image features the shady side towards the weir, where huge branches span the water throwing deep shadows. In the distance, the sun gleams on the open water. I borrowed some Meadowsweet to create foreground interest and concentrated on the contrast between brilliant afternoon light and deep shade.
