Brotherswater
I walked round this quiet lake one afternoon in late January. The palette was wintry, with a limited number of cool and warm colours. A few early catkins dangled from the branches overhanging the lake, above some withered reeds. There were interesting features in the middle distance in the form of the reedbeds and the bare shapes of a winter wood. I used ink and coloured pencil, mixing several ranges: Caran D’Ache Pablo, Faber-Castell Polychromos, Derwent Procolour and Prismacolor Premier.
