It has good a spacial sense Fiona, and I like the way you have done the foreground, which has created a sense of depth. Or was it thrown in lol.

Lovely as usual, superb freedom & looseness.

Very expressive Fiona - super.

John I'm surprised you're asking....of course it was thrown in, well, swished from side to side actually!lol Thank you. Thank you very much Willie, Frank for your comments, always appreciated.

John, you've got me thinking now....does it look 'thrown' in? It's my impatient nature, I start with good intentions but when I get to the nearly finished bit...as you guessed, I throw it in! I don't think there's a cure.....

I like the drama in the sky Fiona. It brings interest to the whole picture not just the foreground. Steve petrovic

Love that lively sky Fiona, also the dry brush work in the foreground, always tempting to add detail at the end isn't it?

Thrown in or not I like it...it works Fiona :)

I've not been commenting much recently but just saw this little gem and had to say how much I like it! It's so expressive and the colours are so fresh, especially the blues. Lovely!

Well done Fiona, I haven't been for a while, nice job here..... good loose work... (I like the profile pic.!)

Apart from the skill, for me it's the way you capture the drama of the elements in the sky and background Fiona. And the colour contrasts.

Lovely composition Fiona. Beautifully painted.

It's not a bad attempt Fiona, perhaps the sky has been somewhat overworked, but you know that anyway.

Interesting. Love ghe title

A lovely scene Fiona. The soft background gives it a sense of mistyness which compliments the sharper foreground.

Beautiful soft colour Fiona.

It was the lovely pale blue which drew me to this one, Fiona - and I like the expressive foreground detail - it's your style and what makes your work so distinctive!

love the almost oriental feel to the brushwork - I wouldn't worry about losing some of the background hills - they are still there!

Thanks ever so much everyone for your continued encouragement, I'm very grateful for your feedback. X

You know I'm a fan. Terrific loose painting.

Lovely scene well painted as always, Fiona.

lovely work as ever Fiona texture wash and marks are your forte nice photo of the artist too

Hi Fiona. Turner used to throw everything into his canvas or paper. They used to mock him. There is a little cartoon of him standing in front of his painting with a bucket and mop in his hands. Smiling at his handywork. So you are going in the right direction. By the way he is going to be on a £20 note in 2020. But I thing he should be on the front of the note not on the back. Lol.

Thrown? I wish my aim was as good as the mistress in the nicest possible way

Many thanks Brian, Cesare, David....too kind, John that's good news there's hope for me yet then...although I don't think I'll ever make onto the back of a bank note! lol Derek, there is nothing at all wrong with your aim.....thank you.

I love the looseness and colours of the sky Fiona.

Many thanks Ellen, much appreciated.

Sky looks just right to me Fiona.

Thank you very much ladies!

That's real art...not digitally made...I presume...and is all the better for it. Well done.

Thank you Timothy. I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start with a digital process...I did try it once but I found it extremely difficult and the end result was very naive.

14" x 10" Watercolour on Arches. This is a mix of a couple of watercolours I've already done, with a few odd bits thrown in as well! I think I could have left the sky wash to dry a little more as the distant hills have faded back too much.
