Lovely Fiona got me wanting to do a scape

You tell 'em Fiona, but it works if you can help and you obviously have done.

Gosh that was quick Dennis, thank you very much.

....and Derek, thank you. I think there will be a few more snow scenes before it gets easier.

Well Fiona, it's about time you posted something and this is a beauty. I do particularly love the blue shadows from the tree and I would have liked to see a much stronger wash running along the base and following the contours of the banks etc., A really good effort all the same.

lovely painting Fiona well done . looks very wessony great

It's awesome.. I Love it.

Works so well Fiona, perhaps a little figure struggling through the snow? Good example of 'less is more', has that uncluttered feel that Wesson was so good at.

Beautiful painting, clear and unfussy. Very skilled Fiona.

I love the random brush strokes Fiona, they pull the scene together. Great work!

Very well done Fiona - love the pen marks and the blue shadow.

Well done Fiona! Just enough white showing through. I love the blue tree shadows rolling down the bank, lovely!

This is lovely fresh colour and great perspective.

Why thank you Alan, so glad you like my SKETCH!
Helen, Dennis, Maria, Carole, thank you very much really appreciate your comments. Stephen, if I were as good as yourself at doing figures, I wouldn't hesitate but I'm not....I always think I will spoil the picture!lol.
Thanks Satu, Dympna, Sarah and Karen for your lovely comments.

This is beautiful and must have really helped your friend and the lady from your art group a lot as leaving white paper is something people do sometimes find hard. I have the opposite problem in that filling all the paper with colour makes me shudder a bit - I find that really hard to do! I love your 'demo' piece above - beautifully simple and elegant with super light and shadows.

THIS is how to do pen and wash, Fiona! It's just what I want to be able to do. It's a lovely painting.

Thank you for your lovely comment Thea. I think at the end of the exercise she was very pleased with the result. Jenny, you can do it, I've seen your line work! Thank you!
Many thanks Anastasia.

A lovely example of how to leave the white paper to great effect, something I find hard to do. I always manage to leave a lots less unpainted than I meant to at the start :)

Wow! This is great, Fiona. That's a splendid gap in the fence leading the eye right into the scene. I love this one.

Many thanks Val and Seok for your kind comments.

Lionel, you always say the nicest things about my paintings....thank you very much. Hope Spain went well and everything came to a satifactory conclusion.

Stunning work, Fiona! I love the immediacy of the piece, and your palette is gorgeous - so effective in conveying the pristine colors of a snow scene.

This was done at the Friday art group this morning to help one of the ladies, and a friend, how to leave some white of the paper. She has a habbit of wanting to 'colour in' every inch of white paper. We chose this loose, Wesson style to do a pen & wash snow scene......and it worked! Although I could see her twitching at leaving so much white!Lol.
