Rain Over The Cree by Fiona Phipps

You've described this sky so well Fiona both in word and watercolour. A really expressive painting!

So well captured Fiona, this is really excellent work, some fabulous washes going on and again I love the lack of definition on the horizon. That touch of warm red was a good move,

I love this loose style Fiona and it really looks like that sky is full of rain!

So atmospheric Fiona! I hope that you didn't get swamped out with all that rain!

Lovely style Fiona. I struggle with Arches paper but you seem have the hang of it.

Gorgeous sky with the rain coming down. You have painted it so well Fiona!

Many thanks Christine, Alan, Lisa, Sarah....I was in the car Sarah, dry as a bone! Thanks Marjorie, yes I do like the Arches but only the 'not' I can't get on with the rough. Thanks Satu!

Everything has been said! Wonderful use of watercolour Fiona.

Another lovely loose painting Fiona

It's been said. Very impressive. Not much room in a car. Certainly evokes wild nd woolly weather!

Lovely strong colour and splendid use again of dry brushwork ......

I note the little post on the right and again think of Ted Wesson who loved to include one of these in a fair few of his paintings

Lovely informative painting Fiona, really like it.

Thank you all very much for your smashing comments, they are very much appreciated.

Wet, wet, wet, you've caught the scene so well Fiona but glad you were warm and dry in the car :) That sky and the way it dissolves into the horizon is a master touch.

Yes it's been a wee bit wet here Val, there is still a lot of standing water on some of the fields......all good painting opportunities, I've got one in mind for tomorrow if the water doesn't disappear over night!! Thank you very much for leaving a comment, much appreciated.

Loaded with atmosphere, spontaneity and life. Really superb piece, Fiona!

Many thanks Seok.

14"x10" Arches, manganese blue, u. marine, r. umber, b. umber, ven. red. We are getting quite a lot of rain here in Galloway at the moment, but there are short spells where parts of the sky clear to leave bright blue areas, with rain filled clouds racing to blot them out. This was the veiw on Friday looking over the Cree from Carsluith.
