Wigtown Reserve & Salt Marsh by Fiona Phipps

11"x9" watercolour on jacksons rough, u marine, b. sienna, r.sienna and a spot of L. red. The river Bladnoch runs into the Cree Estuary at Wigtown, where there is a bird reserve and hide. The salt marshes are grazed by cattle and sheep throughout the year and the meat is reported to be very fine.....and expensive! It's a great place for migratory birds and watching murmurations of starlings coming into the reed beds. It's one of my favourite places to be.
