Soggy Bottom!

Comments

You can sense the wetness here Fiona. Love the soft background areas.

You are a champ Fiona, getting out to paint in this weather! And to produce something so lovely!

That was quick ladies! Thank you both very much. Marjorie, I didn't go willingly. I had to give myself a good talking to and a promise of a mug of hot chocolate for being a good, brave girl. 😉

Very good , I especially like the ghostly trees in the background.

This is great, Fiona. Love the depth in it.

That is very good indeed, Fiona! It "oozes" wetness!!

Really good watercolour, lovely.

Very soggy and very good!

Very brave Fiona, I paint indoors at this time of the year! But it was certainly worth the effort.

Definitely brave Fiona! Love the haziness of your background and the loose way you paint your trees.

This is marvelous, you've caught the wet soggy look, and the distant trees are so very good.

A great soggy bottom Fiona. Love the softness of the background.

Nice of you getting out to play with your creativity Fiona ;) I'm not big fan of watercolours, but I like the atmosphere in here, sort of foggy effect is perfectly achieved!

This is beautifully painted Fiona , I hope you didn’t get a soggy bottom out there in the wet cold weather. Definitely deserve a hot chocolate with a little something extra in it .

A very good atmospheric Winter sketch!

I love this Fiona. The colours and atmosphere are great.

A very beautiful result Fiona - I love the background trees in the light in particular.

Thank you ever so much everyone for your wonderful support and encouraging feedback.

Interesting to see you have used oil pastel and the paintings loose style works so well Fiona.

Really good effort considering the difficulties of painting plein air in wet conditions…I like it!

Nice one, Fiona, like the soft outlines of the background trees.

A delightful painting Fiona that simply evokes the imagination beyond what we can see.

Lovely painting 🖼 😍

Lovely control of the medium and colour. Here’s to soggy bottoms!

Watercolour at it's best Fiona. I like it lots!!

I can feel the bones chilling as I look at your painting Fiona. Lovely; I really like the way you have painted the winter trees, especially the mistiness of the trees in the background.

A superb atmospheric piece, Fiona. Love the recession of layers and the accents in all the right places.

Many thanks to you all for giving me such a boost! Always appreciate your observations and input. X

Wow, it connects!

Thanks again Romila, appreciated.

I could look at a scene like this and not even know where to begin painting it. You have captured it beautifully and taken me there more effectively than a photo ever could.

What such a kind comment Jacqueline, thank you for that, appreciate it. I know what you mean regarding the scene, I have emptied this one quiet a lot. It’s a very busy background with lots of twigs and branches. I wanted to filter most out and add enough to give the impression, hope it worked.

Very eye-catching, Fiona

Thank you Maureen!

Great wet watercolour Fiona, you have captured the scene well.

Thank you Gillian for your lovely feedback.

Sketchbook watercolour plus a bit of oil pastel. With the amount of rain we’ve had lately there are lots of soggy bottoms in the woods behind me at the moment. The first day of sunshine to get out and paint, however, it did come with snow, which hasn’t penetrated in to the trees fortunately. It isn’t very warm either 🥶
