Going North by Fiona Phipps

At first glance I thought it was raining up north. Than I read your description. Either way, it's a great picture.

Great picture , love the way the sky changes across the view.

Really atmospheric Fiona, wonderful!

I thought you where coming up my ways Fiona, beautiful painting so soft and wonderful colours.

Such a beautifully atmospheric piece, Fiona. The lovely combination of bold lines and soft washes is really effective to move and hold the eye.

Very stylish and atmospheric, Fiona - lovely loose washes!

And the balance is great, top left with bottom right.

I do love this Fiona, simplistic, beautiful washes and effects.

Lovely painting fiona lovely colours

Like how you’ve mirrored the sky in the bottom right hand corner Fiona. The path is leading us into an interesting space and I love your loose, approach and soft washes.

Thank you Carole, Faye, Carole, Manoj, Paul, David, Carol so much for your encouraging support.

Wonderfully mysterious and atmospheric, Fiona. The 'Crook of Baldoon'! -I think the name deserves the mystery. Great painting.

Really special Fiona.

Full of atmosphere and takes us up north too, the perspective and remote angle sheds light on the hills and leads the eye to where the river meets the estuary, fabulous!

Stylish and atmospheric work, Fiona. Lovely.

Well done Fiona. Works as an abstract or a landscape. Beautiful colours.

I love the way the path leads up through the trees Fiona. Having read your description I think you have been very imaginative loosing the greens, much more interesting!

Fantastic, I really like this piece.

Great drawing, lovely use of washes. Hmm. I haven't played with my watercolours for a while.

Unique landscape portrayal, great palette and really interesting.

Gudrun and Jacqueline….ladies thank you for your kindness.

I am really enjoying your watercolours. Inspiring me.

That’s good to hear, I think we inspire one another……thank you for your lovely comment.

Simple but very effective.

Thank you very much for your comment Leslie

A very effective piece of art Fiona, you seem to change or have a go at a new style with each painting? You are not afraid to do something out of the box, good for you! 😉

Many thanks William. I would get bored painting the same subject in the same style all the time……that’s probably why I’m not very good at any of them lol. It depends what mood I’m in and what I’m painting I think, I could paint the same thing, two days on the trot and they would be different!

14”x12” watercolour and graphite on Saunders. Another one of the paintings from the Crook of Baldoon. The track runs north with the marsh and the Cree Estuary beyond on the right. A couple of miles along here takes you up to the banks of the Bladnoch river which joins the Estuary. It was all green! So I’ve improvised.
