A superb sketch!!

You get better and better, I really like this.

I agree with Lewis, you do get better and better. great drawing Paul.

Extremely good and that well drawn figure gives added interest

David, Lew , George and Heather thank you I appreciate your kind comments. I based this on a 1890s photograph of fishermen’s wives waiting for the return of the boats at Whitby, it’s a photo I’ve looked at several times and thought about a painting, think the sketch works well.

Great sketching.

This has a magnetic, old charm about it Paul. Love the oldy worldly feel of it. Such a great atmospheric painting.

Excellent work Paul

wow, thats amazing Paul!!!!!!!!!!

Very good, that figure is really well drawn.

Stephen, Carole, Chris , Tanja and Andrew many thank for the comments they are appreciated and encouraging.

Excellent sketch Paul.🙏👌

Small details like the inner ribs of the 2 dinghies are well drawn.

Love this, especially the figure , wow great work !!

Lovely atmospheric drawing Paul.

Good sketch, Paul.

You can safely say, you’ve got the hang of this style Paul! Excellent subject and control of the medium.

Thank you everyone for the comments, I have a lot to learn yet Fiona , don’t think we ever stop learning . There are a couple of masters on POL who produce great pen and ink work , Alan produces the most amazing loose style work and Lew’s work is superb , both with looking at and learning from.

Great work Paul, your growing confidence with pen and ink is obvious to see

This style definitely suits you Paul. Another good one.

Thank you a Russell and Christine.

Love your boat sketches. Well done figure adds to the composition well.

Thank you Romila, Sandra and Anne for the kind comments.

Great. Reminds of the TV programme. And the little fishes. !!

A superb boat scene, and boat sheds too,, nice wash and greyish surrounds...like it very much..

Nicely sketched Paul, do you use a fountain pen?

Thank you Trevor, I’m using a dip pen and India ink only started using them recently wish I had done so before.

Gentle and delicate. Nice

A4 loose style pen and ink sketch with a little bit of white acrylic paint for the sails as the didn’t stand out in the sketch. Did this last evening, I really enjoy these sketches and find then quite relaxing, more loose looking than my recent pen drawings .
