You are right Paul, we sometimes discount how interesting the roots of a tree can be, and make super subjects to draw or paint. This is my kind of drawing….lovely. I’m working on something similar at the moment…..hope it turns out as good as this.

Good tonal study Paul.

Such an acutely observed study Paul. Great work.

It is a very well observed drawing Paul. I am looking forward to seeing the resulting painting. You are sketching well.

A good study Paul and I agree tree roots are endlessly fascinating with a beauty all of their own

A really good study, Paul!

Thank you all for your kind comments I appreciate them . I enjoyed doing this sketch , I find sketching relaxing and have done most of my life when work and family didn’t get in the way.

A very good study of the roots Paul, I agree that the roots are as interesting as the rest of the tree

Interesting study Paul.

Good application of texture in the branches.

A lovely and well observed drawing Paul.

Denise , Peter and Diane thank you for up your kind comments.

Really interesting subject and well drawn.

Stands up on its own as a piece of artwork, it's almost an abstract.

Very strong sketch Paul. Hope to see it as a painting.

Great stand alone piece Paul.

Linda, Andrew , Sandra and John any thanks for your comments I appreciate them.

A graphite study of the exposed rooks of. Scots Pine growing on a hill side , I’m thinking of a watercolour as there are some beautiful colours in the exposed roots . I do enjoy sketching trees but like a lot of people I focus more on the tops , when you look at the roots they can be just as impressive .
