Love all those elegant twists and turns of the branches Paul. A superb sketch.

Really good Paul.

Good sketch Paul, a lovely looking old tree

This is so well drawn Paul

I love trees too, and you've captured this one so well Paul.

A very good sketch of a lovely tree Paul

They make such interesting subjects Paul, great job here!

A really good drawing, Paul!

I like it - I've just been out for a walk, and the trees are losing leaves even on the sheltered Niton Undercliff, so their structure is becoming visible again; and some are of course dead. I feel drawings and a painting coming on - took photos; wish I could work out in the open, but there it is... Anyway, enough about me, if such a thing is possible, and back to you: a drawing with character.

Thank your all for your very kind comments I appreciate them . I just arrived home after a day shopping on the way home the sun was setting behind a lot of trees they looked amazing with the backlight.

Very good tree drawing Paul like it very much.

A wonderful gnarled old tree Paul. What a great subject to do in pencil and wiping out with a rubber, it’s created lovely areas of light and texture.

Brian and Fiona thank you for taking the time to comment I really appreciate it.

Really good Paul; you're right, winter trees do make excellent subjects.

Really good Paul, like a sculpture.

Karen and John thank you for your kind comments.

Wonderfully detailed tree Paul.

Nice one Paul.

Good one Dixie. Trees are endlessly fascinating especially in winter

Christine, Sandra, Sylvia and Martin thank you for your much appreciated comments.

great sketch Dixie. I share your love of trees.

I agree with all the comments, a superb drawing. You are a master at trees.!

Good result, Paul!

Mark and Valarie thank you for your kind comments . I’ve always liked trees Valerie and became more interested in then when I worked as a Ranger for the NT in the Chiltern Hills as I was a to get up close and actually work with and in them . As for being a master well I certainly wouldn’t claim to be but thank you for the accolade .

Thank you Willie we were posting at the same time I think .

Pencil sketch of a dead tree , using several different grade pencils, putty rubber for highlighting and a blending stick in my Tree sketch pad. I do love the shapes of all trees but the trees in winter and dead trees make such excellent subjects for sketching and studying their structure.

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
