Old truck

Liking the look of this one mate, look forward to progress! My favourite subject matter, as you know :)

Thanks Anth , old rusty trucks , tractors, ships etc really my favourite things to paint and sketch but I try to do other stuff as well. It won’t be anything as fine detailed as your master work , when it comes to cars etc there are a couple of you that are the tops .

A great drawing Dixie. I love these old trucks. I know what you mean by thinking it might be better to leave it now. I often think that, but seldom leave things, and then end up having doubts. I think it's all part of the drawing/painting process...sometimes - a year later - things seem better, but not always.

This will be fine Paul, I don’t do much wc work these days, but I’ve often left some areas blank like this, especially figures - it seems to make the painting more interesting.

I do agree Frank it add something by doing nothing. Many years ago a old chap,I was watching paint at Hughenden Manor said during the discussion it what you don’t paint that make the picture .

When to stop, that constant dilemma we all struggle with. It's a lovely sketch Paul but I'd be tempted to ..........?

I have already Russell I’ve added a bit of colour to the truck and will start on the rust later ,at the moment the paint is drying to quickly.

Thanks Chris , have to admit I’m now feel a bit nervous put myself on the spot by posting this stage. I call the next stage the ugly stage where it doesn’t seem to look right then suddenly come together, well that’s the hope any.

Like it as it is Paul at this stage- always very difficult knowing what to do. Interested to see what you end up doing.

Looking good Dixie, you have a precise style of drawing ideal for this sort of subject but doesn’t detract from the character of the old truck.
