Well observed and very well painted Paul.

Delightful painting, Paul - a well-drawn challenging building!

Turned out very nice, Dixie. I see there's a view into the courtyard, and just enough detail around the windows. Lovely work.

Great painting Paul.

A fine building so well portrayed Paul.

Very well observed, nicely done

Thank you for your kind comments I appreciate them .

That’s such a hard building to paint but you have done it proud Paul.

A challenging building to paint. Well done Paul

Don't you dare bin it Paul! It's just so good, amazing detail (love the tree foliage), really outstanding. Do send them a copy.

Complex shapes Paul. Very well done.

Thanks everyone for the very kind comments, it was quite a task given all the different angles etc but enjoyed doing it. I think the roof would be a bit less straight in places but it looked odd when I added the odd bow etc , probably because of the angles etc .I’m pleased with the finished piece, it’s the most complex building I’ve ever tackled.

I like this and think you have done a great job, so many angles and they all look spot on. A very appealing piece of work !!

Nice work, Paul.

Thanks Valerie and Jenny I appreciate your comments.

Bet the owners of the this place would be interested I this Paul, really lovely

‘In’ this’ mean 😁

Good one Paul

A lovely painting. The sign board is a nice touch.

Thank you Carole , Heather and Nick.

Roof angles are so tricky but you've handled these well, and the loose foliage is a good contrast with the tight architectural subject.

Thank you David I appreciate your comment, yes the foliage softens the skyline a little and offers the contrast to the building.

I bet this was a challenge Paul, I wouldn’t know where to start. Excellent.

I know The Bear very well and instantly recognise it from your painting Paul, nicely done.

Thank you Fiona and Hilary , yes it was a challenge but that was my reason for tackling it I do love taking on a challenge as you know Fiona . Well I happy knowing that someone who knows the Bear well can recognise it , it’s always a worry Hilary that someone will say don’t recognise that bit etc , as with any painting it’s not totally accurate, but who wants it done so needs a photograph.

Water colour painting of this old hotel/ pub parts of which date back to 1755, sprawling old building with a maze of rooms . Process of painting is on the forum under architectural painting as a WIP. Decided to stop here as I will fiddle with it or bin it as it’s taken time to complete due to other things taking my time .

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
