Beechwood’s

Comments

Interesting to read your comments and another good painting Paul

I like the depth of the background, the sunlight breaking through and the detail of the stubborn leaves refusing to join the autumnal carpet. Good one Dixie!

I do like Beech trees they are so elegant. Like these lots Paul and your info.

Thank you for your kind comments , Heather, Mark and Sylvia.

Lovely light through the trees and interesting facts about the trees Paul.

Great knowledge Paul of a subject I was so unaware of. You learn something everyday as they say. A lovely painting of these beautiful trees.

Another lovely painting, I love the colours you use for doing landscapes with trees.

Interesting facts about the trees - very nicely painted with the shafts of light!

Another nice tribute to the trees Paul ;) It's interesting the way trees do supporting their stability into the soil...

Gorgeous beech trees and interesting information too!

Another excellent painting Paul 👌

Superb work Paul. Wonderful receding trees and I really like how you’ve got that one branch hanging across the painting. The dappled light also works so well.

Interesting narrative, Paul, like the soft colours in this.

Superbly painted and your comments about buttresses is very interesting!

Art, Sarah, Stephen, Spencer , Jenny and David many thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

Informative write up Paul and a super grouping of the trees, smashing watercolour.

Tessa, Denise, Andrew and Petra thank you for your lovely comments.

Another excellent painting Paul, love the colours and the effect of the trees fading into the distance

Thank you Cheryl I appreciate you taking the time to look and comment.

A lovely watercolour Paul. Your comments on the way beechwood’s grow is fascinating.

Coral and David thank you for you kind comments. Most of the big older beech trees on the Chiltern hills have quite big buttresses as the soil is very thin with deep chalk underneath. The archeologist love it when one falls as they often uncover worked flints , napped flints , arrow heads and various other bit and bats .

Beautiful 😍

A lovely piece, Paul. Loads of atmosphere, super composition and a very attractive muted palette.

Interesting comment, nicely painted

I love the delicacy you have achieved here and thank you for the background information.

Watercolour 23x36 paper in A3 mount with A4 aperture . Taken form a photo of the local beechwood they grow on such thin soil that as the get bigger and older they develop buttresses to stabilise. Foresters hate the buttress they have to be cut off before the tree can be cut down, if your a contractor it takes more time . Sometimes the cut above the buttress and leave a high stump , this looks awful.
