Lots to look at and interesting facts too Paul

Yes, lot's to look at and an interesting story, stunning trees and the figure and dog make a delightful scene Paul.

As said, very interesting and good.

Good work and story, Dixie. Seems they had it hard back then, needing approval to gather a basic need like firewood. But I suppose everybody was burning wood then.

Thank you all so much for you kind comments. They did have it hard back then Lew, not only did the lords own the wood they owned some of the people as well. Fascinating reading about how people lived within the British Isles and used the countryside.

Good work, Paul and an interesting but sad background story.

I love interesting facts along with a piece of art. Well told, in story and painting Paul.

Fabulous trees Paul - and love to see these autumn colours.

The big tree must be very old, well drawn.

Thank you all for your comments they are appreciated. Kwok the trees are based on the ones in the woodland where I worked as a volunteer ranger. These particular thee are where I usually sit for my lunch, some of the older trees in the woodland are 200-300 yrs old. In one woodland that was used by the local parish as an allotment for the poor , the coppice stools are believed to be over 400yrs old.

24x32 cm watercolour of an old lady and her dog collecting fire wood. The title refers to the old law term allowing tenants to collect firewood. There is also housebote which enabled the collection of wood to build, normally thin poles for wattle and daub. One of these painting that I have worked on over the past month , put it away and started again.
