Old and Gnarled

Good one Paul, trees done nicely 👍

It turned out really well, both the tree and the wall.

Great character in the old trees Dixie. I like the detail of the broken branch, the stone wall and big chunks of stone around the tree.

Great sense of texture and tonal variation.

Another good tree study!!

Stephen, Andrew, Tessa, Mark and David many thanks for your kind comments they are appreciated. I did enjoy painting this and found it quite relaxing. It’s a little bit darker in reality but not much .

It has turned out great Paul, wonderful colours in the stonework.

What a wonderful tree of character Paul that twists and turns in all directions. The inclusion too of the old stone wall adds to this lovely painting.

A very characterful tree and wall, nicely painted!

A wonderful sinuous and organic shape to your tree Paul. I like the palette very much, soft and subtle.

Super Dixie.

These old trees have so much character - like the colours and the detail in the wall.

Glad you went for it Paul. It’s lovely. Your colour choices, especially in the rocks and wall, beautiful.

A3 paper painting inset 23cm x35 cm watercolour. The full story of this painting is on the forum as a work in progress it’s a bit of a return to older ways of painting for me. I was inspired by I’m reading about the loss of the British rainforests . I did a lot of searching on the internet and was impressed by the hundreds of photos particularly the black and white ones some taken a long time ago. I would like to thank the many unnamed photographers who posted their work and for the inspiration I had.
