Great composition Paul, you’ve got a really interesting piece of work here!

I agree about the composition in particular Dixie. You seem to have zoomed in on the boats and that’s very effective. Love it!

Agree with the other comments, Paul - great composition!

Yes nice composition Paul & all tied together with the rigging & anchorage lines.

Lovely composition Paul.

Agree with Alan, my eye travels round this painting very well and there's lots to like along the way

Thank you all for you encouraging and kind comments they are appreciated a lot. For me there is something about old boats and ships that just cry out paint me I’m sure it the colours, shapes and the setting that attract. Strange as soon as I set foot on a ship I feel seasick even in the harbour , I cannot stand roundabouts etc so why the attraction , blowed if I know .

I like this Paul, lovely boats.

Great collection of beautifully painted boats Paul.

Top work Paul.

Many thanks Carole , Carole and Linda for your kind comments they are much appreciated.

love the way it all pulls together with the wet ropes

Terrific! I'd love to be there.

Love it, Dixie. Lots of difficult shapes in there...but no problem for you.

Very complicated with all those ropes. You must have a very steady hand! The colours are in lovely harmony.

Another good one Dixie, and as said the foreground boats and ropes are really good.

Thank you al so much for your very kind comments I do appreciate a lot. I enjoy the challenge of the different shapes and the complex rigging etc. My hands aren’t very steady but I thing it helps having a bit of a wobbly hand . I do have arthritis in army fingers and the resulting pain and stiffness , in addition to a finger that now has a sixty degree bend but fortunately on the left hand. I have stared wearing pressure gloves and have found that can paint longer and my hand is more steady, I would strongly recommend then as they do reduce the pain as well.

Lot's to look at Paul, I agree with everything said. Painted beautifully.

Denise thank you for you comment it is appreciated and means a lot to me.

This has worked very well. It takes you into it and I want to look around .

Thank you Sylvia for you kind comment.

I love all those ropes Paul! Even the negative spaces that the criss-crossing of the ropes create, form a whole new addition to your excellent painting.

A lovely painting Paul. The composition stood out for me.

Thank you Fiona and Diane for you very kind comments,, The ropes I think are an important part of the scene Fiona and unfortunately often get left out or drastically reduce.

Super group, Paul, well painted.

Good work.

About a4 in size watercolour of sailing barges and other boats on the Orwell at Woodbridge in Suffolk and a boat yard .. The local pub is very popular with the boating fraternity and nearby is the Pin Mill a tidal water mill. There is always artist painting the scenes most days. From old photos and online information. I have visited several time but never had the tim3 to sit and paint .

I have sketched most of my life on and off I became interested in watercolour following a spinal injury whilst in hospital but did not follow it up. My eldest daughter bought me a beautiful wooden box set of half pans about twenty five years ago I dabbled on and off until retirement twelve years…
