Ely in the mist

Lovely delicate colours and you’ve definitely captured the “mistiness”

Gorgeous colours Paul and a beautifully captured scene,

Wonderful Paul. You’ve caught the ancient mystery of this fabulous place, I love Ely.

Love the ghostly atmosphere you have created here Paul and your, gentle washes.

Nice watercolour Paul, very atmospheric. After i left school i joined the RAF and was a male nurse serving on the wards of RAF Ely Hospital for almost 2 years. I was then posted to RAF Changi in Singapore!!

Thank you all for you very kind comments. It’s a lovely place Fiona and David I know you both have links to the RAF , I have a fondness for the hospital I spent eighteen month as an in patient following a spinal injury and several operations. I traveled to Ely twice a week for nearly three years for ongoing treatment, I often wished I watercolour painted then . It is where I first painted with the help of the OTs.

Very effective mist Paul. Ethereal.

A4 approx watercolour of Ely cathedral through the morning mist . A quick wet in wet using Payne’s grey and Rose Madder . A sight I have seen many a time travelling to the RAF Hospital twice a week for treatment. Beautifully place and fantastic views. Sadly like all of the other RAF Hospitals Ely no longer exist.
