Very effective = like the glow.

Wow, Diana, this is fantastic. Beautiful composition and colours and the glass is perfectly painted!

Another superb example of watercolour painting.

Super, love the glass in particular

Thank you Maureen. I’m pleased with that light. It’s exactly what attracted my attention. My husband said that even during Christmas dinner I was more interested in a painting than the meal!!! True. Thank you Mia I’m really pleased that you like it. I was disappointed with my last painting so needed to learn from a few mistakes. Thank you Petra. I really enjoyed this one Thank you Stephen. Without a doubt, the louder areas are the most difficult. Thank you Heather. Painting glass in detail is so relaxing. Happy New Year to you all.

Beautiful and so cosy, Diana - and superb glass!

Love that glass with its sparkle and surrounding reflections Diana. Such lovely lighting around at Christmas, great idea to make the most of it. So admire your watercolour skills.

You are a master at capturing surfaces accurately Diana. Fantastic work !!

Amazing Diana, this is so complex I wouldn't know where to start!

I'm running out of superlatives!

Another fabulous still life showing how well you can express watercolour at its best -love it.

Thank you Anne, the light is rather cozy. It was a bit darker than that but one of my weaknesses is being too cautious with colour strength. Thank you Carole. I wondered if I could describe those drips of wine inside the empty glass. Thank you Audrey. It’s like a wonderfully enjoyable puzzle working out how to approach them. You Russell. I choose a place of strong tonal contact and sharp wet on dry lines then dart about from there. Thank you so much Diane. I appreciate you just looking. Thank You Willie. I love watercolour most when it’s a bit out of control and allowed to blend more. That’s true watercolour skill

Very skilful work Diana, has lovely 3D effect.

Beautiful, the glass is wonderfully painted

Gorgeous ,warm tones running through this Diana. It sums up this festive time of year so well.

Beautiful painting, lovely glow from the candle.

Excellent painting Diana, it's full of interesting shapes.

Love this just as everything you do Diana, it's beautiful, and forgive the comment, but I'm just missing those odd touches of pure white that are always there when glass meets light and that are always there in your work.

Unmistakable style, another joy to behold.

Lovely painting.

Excellent Diana you are so good at portraying reflective surfaces, I just love the warm glow from the candle. Hope you enjoyed the contents of the glass!

Beautiful, Diana, love all the warm colours you’re using.

I love how you've captured the sparkle and the twinkling lights of Christmas. It's beautifully done, Diana!

It’s all been said, amazing work and a lovely dinner table. We had trays I’m afraid, table taken up with art stuff!

Good morning Peter and thank you for being there with another compliment. I value them all. Hello Margaret. Thank you and I’m pleased that you like the painting. Thank you Hilary. I keep coming back to glass as a subject because it’s so satisfying to capture its translucency. Hello Sarah and thank you very much. I’m pleased that you mentioned the warm tones because it was those that I loved in the subject. Thank you Denise. There is something very calming about candle light and the gentle flickering. Good morning George and thank you for your encouragement. I’m not confident with composition but try to link the shapes in some way. Morning Jim and thank you very much. I really welcome any constructive criticism with open arms . I do see what yo mean and maybe that’s why it lacks a bit of that crispness. Thank you Tony. I love the idea of having a recognisable style. Such a compliment. Hello Colette and Happy New Year to you. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you Judith . Your support and interest is so encouraging. Morning Barry. I did enjoy the content thank you! It was certainly a relaxing and quiet meal this year 👍. Hello Jenny. Thank you for all your interest I used quinacrine gold ,burnt Sienna and quinacrine sienna. Staining colours so needed to be brave ! Hello Seok. Thank you for your interest in this painting. Twinkling lights and trees have always been so special at Christmas though fairy lights are around all the year in many places.

Good morning Katy and thank you. We only managed one meal at the table😂 Felt obliged

Beautiful light.

Always a delight Diana, superb reflections in the glass pieces, love the candle, also your lovely palette.

Mellow indeed Diana, makes me want to put my feet up and relax. As always, you produce startling quality from your brush.

This is lovely. You paint glass and reflections so well. The glow against the grey in the background works so well.

Brilliant, and a very Happy New Year to you Diana.

Unmistakeable Diana the master of glass. Terrific.

Absolutely fantastic, you're very talented Diana

Stunning, love the warm glow on the cafetiere and the wine glass, so much to take in.

Thank you Emma. I was more interested in the beautiful light and possible painting than the meal 👍 Thank you Carole. Obviously there are issues with it but that goes without saying 😂 Hello Fiona. That lazy , post Christmas meal heaviness and late afternoon December light is rather special. Thank you for such supportive feedback. Thank you very much Christine. The paint didn’t blend too well in the background Greg giving it a grubby look. Or we could just call it texture! Morning Feed and Brian. Many thanks and a Happy New Year to you too. Thank you very much Susan. There is so much talent here to admire on Painters Online. It’s so motivating. Hello Anjana. The warm diffused light was really relaxing.

Thanks for looking Paul. Much appreciated

So So So Lovely Lovely Lovely!!!!

Inspired by the Christmas table , this half imperial watercolour captures the warmth reflected from the candles in late afternoon. There is an area that I’m not happy with ( there had to be ) but will look at it again in a week or so.
