The Washing Machine

Lovely watercolour- love the colour palette you have used.

This is another beauty Diana. I'm always impressed with the subtlety of your colour palette and this is a lovely example.

The cliff on the right really looms over the scene. Very effective and atmospheric painting

Beautifully done.

Impressive work once again.

Lovely work Diana.

Love your style.

Beautiful, love the muted greens.

Thank you David. There were more greens in this one. I was experimenting with Violet and burnt Sienna/burnt umber. Viridian and Sienna with a touch of violet. Lovely darks. Thank you Heather. I rarely come out of my set palette but I’ve enjoyed experimenting. Thank you William. Again , I needed some shape within the darks to avoid a big black blob 😂 Thanks Peter. Your interest is much appreciated Thank you Stephen. I have these runs on a subject before I need to move on. Thank you for your ongoing interest Denise. I really appreciate it. Thanks David. It’s definitely not traditional pen and wash because there’s a lot of wash! Thank you Lynne. I shy away from exploring colour but have missed some new darks with this one The winder colours are much greener too.

Lovely greens, which are always challenging.

Thank you Linda. I mixed sienna with blues and threw in a bit of lemon yellow and raw sienna and generally playing with the palette 😂

Lovely work as always 😊

Beautiful subtle colours Diana. Love this !!

This is marvellous Diana, well designed and really well painted.

Beautifully painted, the markings of the rocks is particularly good.

Very atmospheric and great technique.

Lovely work Diana...in Gozo we also have a Washing Machine, performing well today in a F8!!

Thank you Faye. I appreciate your interest again. Thank you Audrey. Winter colours down there are almost muted If you know what I mean. Thank you Karen. I take no credit for the composition or image I used as a reference. My husband takes endless photos of this beach because, sadly, my mobility isn’t up to the climb down. Thank you Paul. I decided on layering most of them rather than lifting out , which would have been an option. Thank you Chris. It means a great deal to me to have such encouraging feedback. Thanks Thalia. Stay safe !!!😳

A beauty of a painting love the colours

Lovely painting. Love the colours you’ve used. So effective.

A stunning and powerful painting, Diana.

Impressive, Diana!

You are so good at these pen and washes Diana. Great colours and tones.

Thank you very much Anne and Christine. I hadn’t noticed how subtle the greens/ browns were in this but I used more burnt umber than Sienna.

Thank you Ellen and Anne. I can’t take the credit for the reference image. That was my husband’s work. Thank you David. I think Ivd pretty much obliterated the ink but it seems to work as a base for these rocks.

Brilliant title, Diana! Beautiful as always. Hope to see you at the IWM??

Hello Jennifer and thank you. It would be lovely to meet you.

11.5’’ square ink with watercolour on Saunders Waterford CP , High White paper. The little inlet is nicknamed the washing machine because of the way the waves churn at high tide.
