Great painting again Diana, the top one definitely looks better colours, I too am having same problem with light, 😊

I have the same problem Diane especially this time of year. If I take a photo with a north light I get a blueish tint, the south a neutral tint and the west a warmer tint. Depends what I’m photographing as to which one I choose. I prefer the top one, it seems a more natural light.....it’s fabulous by the way.

Yes, I know the problem, Diana. I too prefer the top one. The colours are more natural. It is difficult now to come close to the original colours of the painting, especially with those dark and cloudy winter days.

I quite like the blue tint in the bottom one. I’ve also found quite a variation, even when photos are all taken in natural light. It’s a shame we can’t reload photos on the gallery as often you get a more accurate image after you’ve already posted.

Thank you Linda. I vaguely understand the photography theory 😂 Thank you Fiona. That’s interesting. These were taken in a north facing bay window. I might try different facing windows. Thank you Mia. The top one is quite near the natural colours. Hello Jenny. I always take photographs in natural light but as you say, it really varies. We used to be able to change the image after posting and I miss that.

Hi Diana, you said you had a problem with shadows. I hope you don't mind me explaining as you never see it explained. Shadows can be worked out using the 3 primaries. If you have a yellow colour bridge, the two colours missing are red and blue, mix to make a purple . This colour can be used for the shadow but not too strong, or you can add a touch to the yellow you painted the bridge. If you want the shadow on grass ( yellow and blue) the colour missing is red so mix some into your green and that will give you your shadow. Hope this helps

Thank you very much David. That’s really helpful and much appreciated.

I was amazed to see how different the colours were on these two images. The bluer on was taken as the light was going yesterday afternoon and the other in diffused, good natural light this morning Both photographed in the same place. Today’s image is much nearer the real colours I was surprised just how different they are.
