Hull Fair from Big Wheel

Superb painting

That is quite magical, Diana!! I almost feel I can hear the music emanating from the fairground!!

WONDERFUL !!!

A joyous painting Diana, full of energy and fun of the fair!

Oh yes all the fun of the fair here Diane. Lots of chaos and movement and fabulous colours make this painting superb.

A super impression of the fairground, Diana - full of movement light and colour!

Most certainly full of atmosphere Diana, I get the slightly dizzy feeling of being high on the ferris wheel looking down with all the associated sounds of a fun fair. Superb.

I love the hizz bang approach!

I was at a fair in Glasgow a few days ago and although I’ve never been one for the rides etc but would go for exactly what you have painted here. The lights and colours, the smell of candy floss and Diesel engines…..and not to forget the throb of the rides and loud ear splitting music! It’s all here Diana.

Really captures the spirit and frenzy of a fairground, beautifully atmospheric.

What a brilliant painting. You have captured the light, activity and excitement of the fair.

Super painting Diana.

Brilliant! A real work of art that can be appreciated at so many different levels.

Beautiful magical atmosphere from the top of the wheel!!

So full of life and movement

A very successful 'play day', love it Diana

Well, it always amused me when paintings that I think are very poor recurve such encouraging and interesting feedback. It certainly illustrates how we view our own work

Thank you Ann I’m encouraged by your interest. You David. That’s a wonderful compliment. It’s the largest travelling fair in Europe and has been coming every year except one for hundreds of years. Thank you Les. It’s very therapeutic to stand and allow complete freedom of brush strokes! Thank you Heather. I used a palette knife to spread and drape at one point. Thank you Chris. Chaos was involved in the mark making too!! Thank you Anne. I’m really pleased that you can feel the atmosphere.

Thank you Val. It’s definitely a feast for all the senses. Thank you Linda. I found that wild , sweeping marks and huge brushes were appropriate for the subject. Thank you Spencer. I’m delighted that you feel the magic. Thank you Fiona. I went on a clear and early afternoon to capture a completely different atmosphere too. It became a bit frightening on the first weekends because the volume of people wasn’t expected and greater than ever before. Thank you Anjana. It’s satisfying to stand at a large piece of paper and throw yourself into the atmosphere Thank you Alan. I could go back one day and ‘finish’ it but probably leave it wild

Thank you Denise. I’m pleased you think so. Well that’s a great compliment Martin. Thank goodness for the tough qualities of the paper. Thank you Romila. It’s an incredible view from up there. Thank you Martin. That’s great you feel the movement. Work like this certainly has plenty of emotion thrown at it. Thank you Thalia. What better way to spend a bleak afternoon.

Nice one. I can feel the energy of this place.

Thank you Barbara. It’s certainly a feast for all the senses

Magical Diana. It lives.

This is fabulous Diana!

Great painting Diana, though you wouldn’t get me up there 😂

Mouth dropped open! Wow! A masterpiece of light, sound, movement, colour, energy…

Full imperial watercolour on Saunders , heavy Waterford paper. My goodness, this paper takes some rough treatment!! This has been flooded, draped and scrubbed !! Yesterday was so dark with poor painting light so I had a play day and went for atmosphere with this large painting based on the view from above the recent annual Hull Fair. Atmospheric or dreadful mess? It was great fun either way.
