This is very, very atmospheric, Diana. A real eye catcher.

A dark composition in which you have created good depth in Diana. The illumination is very convincing.

What a great idea and so unusual. Very well executed.

This is great Diana, you have caught the atmosphere brilliantly, really well painted.

What a superb piece of work Diana, that light shining between the legs in the foreground is a master touch breaking up the dark foreground figures.

Great piece of work - I can hear it, see it, smell it - I'm there !!

spectacular as always. well done Diana

Really great approach to this unusual subject

Thank you very Much Mia. Funny how s few blobs can look like s crowd from a distance Thanks John. Working on a larger scale is like painting on a large canvas. You have to keep standing back from it to see if it works. Thank you Tessa. I loved this image as soon as I saw it. Thank you Linda. I was hoping to capture the atmosphere of the large crowd. Thank you Val. I was wondering if those bright shapes in the foreground would work Hello Michael anc thanks for your great feedback. Thank you Tao , lovely to hear from you Thank you Sarah. Your comment is much appreciated. Thank you Annie, it's a pleasure to read your kind feedback

Ah Diana, you are a mistress of the unusual and spectacular. I'm almost hearing the rockets and smelling the sulphur. Great work as ever....

Diana you are a master at this kind of subject, you inject atmosphere and it!

You have aced it as always Diana! The receding crowd in the distance with brilliantly muted colors is such a feast to the viewers eye.. love it!

Fantastic! Hope you are feeling a bit better :)

Brilliant Diana, love those darks you created, also the highlights around the figures great!

Thanks Jim. It's Hulls annual Open exhibition soon so I painted some local scenes from city of culture events. Thanks Fiona It's lovely to read that you see atmosphere in it. Thank you Nandhini. It's a pleasure to read such encouraging feedback. Thanks Sylvia. I've been out a bit today which is progress. Thank you Carole I emphasised the highlights a bit and found a schminke (sp ?) White pan paintwhich is very thick and opaque

I saw straight away it was yours, Diana. You chose always a difficul subject and you make it look easy. Good painting as ever. Thank you for sharing the colours you used, It is good to improve our knowledge from a great painter as you are.

Thank you again Cesare. I made the black from burnt umber, French Ultramarine and crimson.

Thank you for suggestion, Diana. I find always difficult made dark colours and dark backgrounds.

A difficult subject that you've depicted beautifully. Very dark colours and lost:found effects are no easy task in watercolour. But then it has no secrets for you Diana !

Thank the Avril. I was rather surprised at the success of the crowd but I love s positive surprise!

Hang on Studio Wall

Ref photo by a friend Olga Li La-Vigars I wanted to paint a fairy loose and impressionistic crowd. The fireworks were masked and a wet on dry wash laid out roughly.
