Water’s Edge

Lovely (as always)

Lovely washes and subtle tones in your experimental test watercolour, Alan.

Wonderful loose and unfussy watercolour sketch Alan. Gorgeous dark tones around the painting, lots of interesting marks too.

Nice picture.Did you have to stretch the paper?

Thanks guys, appreciated as always. No I didn’t Andrew, the agave is 265gsm. It does cockle a bit to be honest, as any paper would at that weight but dried absolutely flat.

Actually it is in a pad which is gummed around all four edges, so quite decent to paint on!

Lovely painting Alan.

Thanks Alan, good to know.

I agree with the other comments, Alan, this is lovely!

A lovely result Alan, a very tranquil scene. It will be interesting to hear your recommendations on the papers you tested.

A beautiful, atmospheric landscape. I like the almost abstract trees on the right, and the wonderful loose style. I particularly like and use Hahnemuhle paper so will be very interested to read your article.

Love those trees- no fiddling!

Simple but really effective.

Lovely freshness about this.

Delightful landscape Alan, the sort that would have appealed to Seago.

Beautiful crisp painting Alan!

That's so peaceful ,lovely painting.

This looks as if it was so effortless but I know it wouldn’t be Alan. Love the naturalness of it.

Beautiful Alan, and I love Hahnemuhle paper which I've used for years. Really looking forward to your article in the Artist!

Perfect Alan. Everything is right about it.

I’m currently writing a test report on a range of eco friendly drawing and painting papers for The Artist magazine. These are manufactured by Hahnemuhle and their range consists of bamboo, hemp and agave. This little watercolour is painted on their A4 agave watercolour paper.
