Beautiful Alan. I love the misty , subdued atmosphere and the highlights on the houses are perfect

Interesting composition Alan. I like the way the eye is drawn in and out to the horizon.

I am glad you did decide to post this one. The grey morning(?) mood is caught well and the flash of light on that house adds something exceptional.

Works very well Alan as John has said, the zig zag composition is a good lead in. The misty shoreline gives depth yo the work. Hope you will continue to post on pol, don't let the multi posters win!

I think it's been said better than I can, I certainly endorse all the comments above. I've now ensured I don't miss your paintings even if they do "disappear", having added you to the list of artists I follow.

Superb Alan another classic

I think you've said what a lot of us think Alan, however your painting is stunning as ever, I love the way the light catches on the cottages.

You always inject atmosphere to your work Alan and it takes it out of the ordinary.....a beautiful view and painting.

Thanks everyone for some interesting comments, I'm so pleased that you like it. I do try and add that hint of atmosphere in my work and of course a good dash of 'artist's licence', to spice it up, otherwise I may as well just take a photo.

Very good Alan, I know what you mean about work whizzing through the gallery at a speed of knots. I think Ruskin Spear told Fred Cuming that artists' licences were to be obtained at the post office, but you are certainly entitled to yours.

Thanks Peter, yes, I remember that comment by the great Ruskin Spear to Fred.

Very good atmosphere, Alan.

Very nice Alan, lovely effects and painting

What a beautiful atmospheric painting Alan which I very nearly missed for the reason you said. The colours here are wonderful as is the composition and the little twinkly lights in the distance just balance the whole painting nicely! Same as you, I find myself not posting as much. As well as he mps, people not acknowledging comments and works that aren't actual paintings/hand drawn get me down somewhat :)

Many thanks Gudrun, Cesare, Marjorie and David, it's created some good interest. Louise, thank you also and I'm glad I'm not alone in these issues, all of your points raised are appropriate to me also.

I really like this one Alan, very skillfully painted.

Thanks Margaret, appreciated.

I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way Alan :)

Hear, hear to all the comments!!

Great colours and atmosphere- l love this part of Wales .

A beautiful misty effect, love how the cottages stand out with an interesting reflection Alan, you set the scene wonderfully.

This is very atmospheric, Alan. I love the way the houses stand out against the misty landscape.

Thank you Jennifer, Helen, Carole and Mia, you are all so generous with your comments and I appreciate each one.

Very atmospheric, Alan - typical of all the rain we get in Wales!

I keep coming back to look at this Alan, I’m interested in how you achieve that distant misty effect on the hills and water. It’s a super painting Alan!

Well Fiona, it is very simple really, just buff over the whole sky and water with a soft lint free cloth, or I used kitchen towel. Don't spend ages on it, a quick swipe over should do the trick. Only then did I drop in the land mass.

Thank you Jennifer, appreciated.

Thanks Alan, you make it sound and look simple x

Another winner Alan, I love the murky misty atmosphere.

Oil on gessoed MDF 20 x 20in. Studio painting from some quick sketches made during my visit to the Lleyn Peninsular in July. The coast road in the north runs past this delightful little cove, It may have been Morfa Nefyn. This is the second painting from this cove, the first was posted a month or so ago and shows the other side of the beach, you can see it on my gallery if you are interested. I'm not posting much these days as your work disappears so fast with all the multiple posters.
